PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS
Gianluigi Buffon, JUV v. BAR ($4,900): Juventus were dealt a tough quarter-final draw against Barcelona, and if Juventus are to pull off the upset they'll need a big showing from Buffon. He's the cheapest home goalkeeper on the slate and will have ample opportunities to earn points through saves with Barcelona pushing for an away goal.
Kasper Schmeichel, LEI at ATL ($3,600): Schmeichel is the cheapest starting goalkeeper in the pool, but with the first leg at Atletico Madrid, Leicester are also the biggest underdog. He shipped four goals to Everton over the weekend, albeit with a makeshift backline with one eye on Wednesday's UCL fixture. The thought process here is that Schmeichel will make enough saves to meet value even if he concedes, which seems inevitable.
DEFENDERS
Dani Alves and/or Alex Sandro, JUV v. BAR ($5,300/$5,100): No stranger to Barcelona, Alves will face his former club for the first time since last summer's move. He played a big part in helping Juventus get beyond Porto in the Round of 16, finishing with a goal, 11 crosses and 27 points in limited minutes over two legs. On the opposite wing, Sandro consistently tops double-digit fantasy points and is a comparable option for $200 less. With Juventus pushing for goals, look for Sandro and Alves to have a busy day on the wings.
Raphael Guerreiro, DOR v. MON ($4,900): If usual set piece taker Marco Reus misses out with a thigh injury, Guerreiro will be tasked with a healthy share of Dortmund's set pieces. Reus returned to training Sunday and is listed as questionable, but if he's unable to go, Guerreiro's fantasy value gets a considerable bump.
MIDFIELDERS
Paulo Dybala, JUV v. BAR ($8,300): Dybala supplies a healthy dose of shots and crosses regardless of his share of set pieces. Miralem Pjanic eats into his fantasy value when he's on the field, but in a game where Juventus will have to attack, Dybala is in play even if both are in the starting XI.
Arjen Robben, MUN v. RMD ($7,200): Robben brought the energy in Bayern's 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in Bundesliga play Saturday, scoring a goal and firing off eight shots . He also filled the stat sheet against Arsenal in the Round of 16 with a combined two goals, nine shots, 11 crosses and 46 fantasy points in two games. While Real Madrid will no doubt present a stiffer challenge than Arsenal, Robben will look to carry that energy over to get Bayern off to a quick start in the first leg.
FORWARDS
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, DOR v. MCO ($9,200): Aubameyang is up against former club Monaco, where things did not end on good terms. Since departing in 2011, he's gone on to become one of the most prolific goal scorers in the world. He exploded for a hat trick and 40 fantasy points in his last UCL outing against Benfica, and more fireworks could be in order with Dortmund looking to get off on the right foot in the first leg.
Antoine Griezmann and/or Fernando Torres, ATL v. LEI ($9,000/$6,200): Griezmann, who also qualifies as a midfielder, leads Atletico in both goals and assists and faces a Leicester City team that will surely present him the opportunity to add to his totals. With Kevin Gameiro dealing with an injury, Torres could get another start and provides exposure to the Atletico attack at a nice discount compared to Griezmann.
Falcao, MCO at DOR ($6,400): After dropping two goals and 25 fantasy points on Manchester City in the first leg of the Round of 16, Falcao missed out on the second leg due to injury. He returned to the field over the weekend and picked right back up where he left off, with a goal and 20 fantasy points in Ligue 1 play. For the price, Falcao brings immense upside in GPPs, and in a showdown of potent attacking teams he should be considered in all formats.
