Bills vs Jaguars Prediction

Buffalo is one of the most match-up dependent teams in the league. In fact, throwing out the Week 18 game when Buffalo rested starters, the Bills are 9-1 when Cook goes for 100-plus rushing yards and 3-4 when he falls under that mark. They would probably be 0-7 in those games had Josh Allen not turned into Superman. He averaged a staggering 370.0 total yards per game in those three wins with a whopping 14 touchdowns to two turnovers.

The Bills might need Josh Allen to throw on his cape again on Sunday, because Jacksonville is arguably the best run defense in the league. The Jaguars surrendered the fewest rushing yards in the NFL and allowed a successful run at the third-lowest rate. However, the Jaguars' offense does not match up nearly as well.

Running the ball is the easiest way to beat a Bills' defense that finished bottom five in pretty much every rushing metric. But the Jaguars' rushing attack has been hit-or-miss this season. They finished with a bottom-10 rushing success rate and were below average in terms of EPA per rush. The red-hot passing attack is why Jacksonville is on an eight-game win streak, but Buffalo is a dominant pass defense. Buffalo allowed the fewest passing yards in the league finished as a top-eight unit in both EPA per dropback and dropback success rate.

On paper, each defense should be able to limit the strength of the opposing offense. If both offenses are playing left-handed on Sunday, this game could be decided by which QB is able to make more special plays. All due respect to Trevor Lawrence, but I'll take Josh Allen in that situation every single time.
