Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Lions at Bears

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

Samsung Lions (17-19) at Doosan Bears (21-14)

Tuesday, June 16th, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected starters

LHP Jung Hyun Baek (1-3, 7.20 ERA) vs RHP Raul Alcantara (6-1, 4.07 ERA)

Game Preview

The Bears and the Lions find themselves at different ends of the standings, with the Bears sitting third thanks to a 21-14 record while the Lions sit seventh place with a 17-19 mark. That said, the Bears are coming off back-to-back losses against the lowly Hanwha Eagles, a team that lost 18 straight contests before beating Doosan twice Sunday. The Lions, meanwhile, are coming off a win in a week in which they went 4-2 and have started to hint at a climb up the standings. The Bears will send Raul Alcantara to the mound after he impressed against the Dinos on June 10th, while the Lions will counter with Jung Hyun Baek. The lefty owns a 7.20 ERA and needs to turn things around soon to avoid potentially losing his spot in the team's rotation.

Injuries

Kyoung Min Heo, Bears - Out - Finger

June 4 - Heo will miss 1-to-2 weeks with a fracture in his right little finger, according to Tae Woo Kim of SpoTV. Heo was a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup because of his injury, and he will now miss several more games for the same reason.

Jae Il Oh, Bears - Out - Side

June 15 - Oh appears to be dealing with a serious side injury, Kyung Yoon Kim

Jae Il Oh, Bears - Out - Side

June 15 - Oh appears to be dealing with a serious side injury, Kyung Yoon Kim of the Yonhap News Agency reports. The Bears are expected to provide more details about Oh's status before their next game Tuesday, but he was already removed from the roster, so he will miss more time. Just how much remains to be seen, but Oh owns a 1.039 OPS on the season, so his presence will be greatly missed until he gets back on the field.

Jae Won Oh, Bears - 10-Day IL - Hamstring

June 10 - Doosan manager Tae-hyoung Kim said Wednesday that Oh (hamstring) will rejoin the Bears this weekend to resume training with the club, The Chosun Ilbo reports. While Kim didn't provide an estimate for when Oh might be ready to come off the 10-day injured list, the fact the infielder is traveling with the club for its series at Hanwha suggests the hamstring injury he sustained June 5 perhaps isn't as serious as initially anticipated. The Bears will likely wait and see how Oh's hamstring responds to on-field work before offering up a clearer timeline for his return.

Top picks:

Jose Fernandez, Bears: Fernandez has been one of the top hitters in the KBO this season and while his numbers have dipped a bit in recent weeks, he continues to be an early MVP favorite. He has been at his best against the Lions, going 9-for-13 with two home runs and seven RBI against them.

Raul Alcantara, Bears: Alcantara allowed one run on six hits while striking out four across seven innings during Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Dinos. Even though he's expensive, he represents a great pitching choice for this contest. He won his lone start against the Lions earlier in the season and has allowed three or fewer earned runs in four of his last five outings.

Sang Su Kim, Lions: Kim sits at the top of the Lions order, giving him plenty of chances to make an impact. He's been quite successful this season against the Bears, recording six hits and one RBI in 10 at-bats.

Kun Woo Park, Bears: Park has been playing at a high level of late and has registered three straight multi-hit performances for the Bears. He's hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games and has hit .458 with a 1.146 OPS over that stretch.
