NHL DFS Picks: FanDuel Top Plays and Strategy for Wednesday, December 17

There are five games on the docket, which is on the high end for a Wednesday. The action starts at 7 p.m. ET with Los Angeles in Florida, followed by starts at 7:30 p.m. (Utah at Detroit), 8 p.m. (Winnipeg at St. Louis, Carolina at Nashville) and 10 p.m. (New Jersey at Vegas).

SLATE PREVIEW

Utah and Detroit played Tuesday, so fatigue might be an issue for those squads tonight. The other eight teams are entering tonight's action rested, but Los Angeles and St. Louis will be playing again Thursday, which might influence their lineup decisions Wednesday.

GOALIES

Pyotr Kochetkov, CAR at NAS ($7,800): Kochetkov has gotten plenty of support when he's between the pipes, leading to a 5-1-0 record, 2.10 GAA and .904 save percentage in seven outings this year. Nashville has struggled this campaign with a 13-15-4 record and is tied for 25th in goals per game with 2.81. This is more of a recommendation about the matchup than the goaltender – feel free to take Brandon Bussi ($7,800) or Frederik Andersen ($7,800) if either of them ends up being the expected starter.

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG at STL ($7,700): Back from a knee injury, Hellebuyck is once again among the league's top goaltending options. He has a 2.44 GAA and a .915 save percentage in 16 appearances this season. His 9-6-1 record does leave a bit to be desired, but the 12-15-7 Blues, who rank 30th in goals per game with 2.53, are a favorable matchup.

VALUE PLAYS

Cole Perfetti, WPG at STL ($4,400): Perfetti didn't make his season debut until Nov. 9 due to an ankle injury, and he wasn't particularly productive when he returned, recording just two goals and four points across his first 14 games. He might have found his rhythm, though, supplying three assists over his past four outings.

Andrew Copp, DET vs. UTA ($4,100): Copp has contributed two goals and seven points across his past seven games. That's brought him up to three goals and 16 points in 34 appearances this year.

FORWARD LINE STACK

Jets at Blues

Mark Scheifele (C - $7,300), Kyle Connor (W - $7,700), Gabriel Vilardi (W - $6,500)

St. Louis ranks at the bottom of the league with 3.56 goals allowed per game this year, so this is a good time to scoop up Winnipeg forwards. The Jets' top line should be especially effective. Connor is on a nine-game scoring streak with four goals and 13 points over his last nine outings, giving him 15 goals and 41 points in 32 appearances in 2025-26. Vilardi is similarly hot with five goals and nine points over his active seven-game scoring streak. He's up to 16 goals and 30 points in 32 outings this year.

Scheifele has been limited to two assists over his last three appearances, but he's a great pickup, too. The 32-year-old center is having another great campaign with 16 goals and 40 points through 32 outings.

DEFENSEMEN

Mikhail Sergachev, UTA at DET ($5,800): Sergachev has a goal and five points over his past seven appearances, including three power-play points. He's up to four goals and 22 points in 35 outings, and 10 of those points have come with the man advantage.

Seth Jones, FLA vs. LAK ($5,600): Jones is on a three-game scoring streak and has been held off the scoresheet just once over his past six games. He has two goals and six points over that span, giving him five goals and 19 points in 32 outings on the season.
