Yahoo PGA DFS Picks: Dell Technologies Championship

This article is part of our Yahoo PGA DFS Picks series.

Dell Technologies Championship

Norton, MA
TPC Boston - Par 71 - 7,342 yards
Field - Top 100 in FedExCup standings
Purse - $9M

Setting The Stage

One hundred 2017-18 PGA Tour campaigns remain alive heading into the Dell Technologies Championship as the field continues to dwindle as the FedExCup Playoffs progress, though just 98 entrants will be attendance with Rickie Fowler (oblique) and Francesco Molinari sidelined. TPC Boston once again plays the role of host site during the second leg of the playoffs, having catered to big-name champions such as JT, Rory and Rickie in recent years. The trend of ball striking over short game continues this week, as SG: Tee-to-Green, SG: Approach, GIR percentage and proximity reign supreme as statistics to focus on when building lineups. As for the weather, the Boston area could see rain Thursday afternoon before a cold front moves in for the weekend, but the Friday start date lends a solid chance for the first two rounds to be completed without much precipitation affecting play.

2015 - Rickie Fowler

Cream of the Crop

Justin Thomas - $44

The third-ranked player in the OWGR and defending champion also resides in the top-three of SG: Tee-to-Green, SG: Approach and scoring average this season. Thomas followed his win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational with top-10s at the PGA Championship and Northern Trust.

Brooks Koepka - $43

Koepka went T8-1-5 in his last three starts, all against loaded fields from the Bridgestone through the Northern Trust. Koepka is sixth on Tour in birdie average and posted a top-20 at TPC Boston in 2017.

Glue Guys

Tony Finau - $37

Rising to a career-high 18th in the OWGR, Finau led the Northern Trust field in SG: T2G en route to his runner-up finish. He has posted seven top-10s in 2018 alone, due in part to ranking top-15 on Tour in driving distance, birdie average and par-five scoring.

Patrick Cantlay - $35

Cantlay notched his fifth top-10 of 2018 at last week's Northern Trust, and he has also finished T27 or better in five consecutive starts. He posted a T13 in his TPC Boston debut last year and ranks fifth on Tour in SG: Tee-to-Green.

Bargain Bin

Adam Scott - $27

Owner of six career top-10s at TPC Boston, Scott is peaking at the right time with back-to-back top-fives at the Northern Trust and PGA Championship. He's seventh on Tour in both SG: Approach and GIR percentage, certainly carried by his ball striking as the flat stick has been a letdown outside of last week.

Billy Horschel - $20

Horschel racked up a quartet of top-20 results in his past six starts, most recently logging a T3 at the Northern Trust for his second best finish of the year. He finished T2 at TPC Boston in 2014 and currently ranks eighth in GIR percentage.
