Tournament Preview

This week's European Tour stop is a unique event that has men and women golfers alternating tee times on two courses while simultaneously playing two separate tournaments.  The Beach and Creek courses at 13th Beach Golf Club will be played the first two days, and after the cut golfers will play the weekend solely on the Beach Course.  There is an additional cut after Saturday for the top 35 and ties. The Beach Course is an undulating links-style course. The exposed course has many bunkers throughout and water on only two holes.

DraftKings Picks

Jason Scrivener - $10,800 (16/1)

Scrivener ended last season strong with three top-10s in his last six events.  This season has started a bit slower with his last two starts finishing T58 and T59.  On home soil, this could be the week Scrivener gets things back on track. Last year, he finished T5, which would have been even better if not for the third round that got away from him. He will be in the mix once again this week.  If looking to save some salary, Lucas Herbert at $10,400 is a fine choice. He arrives in great form, winning a couple weeks ago in Dubai.  He was T37 last year at ISPS Handa Vic Open.

Connor Syme - $8,900 (29/1)

A Scot won this event last year, and there is another Scot I am eyeing this week to make some noise.  Young Syme has begun the 2020 season with four made cuts in a row with a T9 and T11 in that span.  He was T52 last week at Saudi International. Expect him to improve from that this week. Last year at 13th Beach he finished T47, missing the final cut for Sunday.

Ashley Chesters - $8,200 (50/1)

Chesters is another golfer who ended last season strong, making seven cuts in his last eight starts. He's had a decent start to this season with only a missed cut in Dubai.  He finished T12 at ISPS Handa Vic Open last year, scoring in the 60s three of four rounds. Chesters is extremely accurate off the tee and with approach shots.  He is ninth on tour in driving accuracy and sixth in par-3 scoring.

Rikard Karlberg - $7,100 (100/1)

For the most part, I am going to skip the $6,000 range this week.  One option that has my attention is Geoff Ogilvy at $6,700 if some salary-cap relief was needed.  He arrives after an extended break to recharge the batteries and is said to be excited to compete again.  He was solo 35th last year at 13th Beach. Karlberg and Alejandro Canizares are my preferred choices at this lower price tier.  Karlberg has only one start this season, finishing T57 in South Africa last month. He did put together a nice stretch of golf toward the end of last season when he had nine consecutive made cuts in a row.  He had four top-6s in that time. He is an accurate golfer, and his lack of distance off the tee should not be of concern this week.
