2025 Fantasy Outlook
One reason the Cubs were aggressively shopping Cody Bellinger this winter is that they believe Caissie is ready to see time in right field at the big-league level. Caissie's batting average figures to be his weakest fantasy stat, but he has the raw power to hit 30 homers in a season and the speed to steal 15 bases. He also has the patience to log solid on-base percentages if it all comes together. His exit velocity data from the past two years is more impressive than the 41 home runs he hit in 247 games. Caissie made contact at a 66.9 percent clip and struck out at a 28.4 percent clip at Triple-A, and the whiffs are part of the package. A left-handed hitter, Caissie could sit against southpaws initially in an effort to get him off on the right foot. Now that he's on the 40-man roster, Caissie could have a chance of winning a roster spot out of spring training, especially if the Cubs are able to move Bellinger. Read Past Outlooks

Hitless in MLB debut
Caissie went 0-for-4 during Thursday's 2-1 loss to Toronto.
Analysis
Caissie is one of the Cubs' top prospects, and he made his big-league debut Thursday, batting fifth and playing DH. The 23-year-old had an opportunity to spark a comeback, leading off the top of the ninth inning. However, he struck out on three pitches -- all swings and misses. Caissie doesn't have a clear path to an everyday role. Ian Happ, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker fill the outfield most nights while Willi Castro fills in on occasion, and Seiya Suzuki has dominated the DH work.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
One of the premier power hitters in the minors, particularly from an exit velocity standpoint, Caissie has never had a strikeout rate below 28.6 percent and has a 30 percent strikeout rate for his career. He took a small step forward with a 27.1 percent strikeout rate in the second half last year, which coincides with the pre-tacked balls being removed from the Southern League. Even so, strikeouts will inevitably be a big part of Caissie's game. Fortunately, he has always walked at an 11 percent clip or higher, so he has the requisite approach to be a three-true-outcomes right fielder. Caissie has a plus arm and runs well for a 6-foot-3 slugger. A left-handed hitter, Caissie had a .755 OPS and 32 percent strikeout rate against lefties in 2023 and a .690 OPS against lefties in 2022, so it's possible he will get a platoon partner. It's also not a given that he will make enough contact against righties in the majors to handle the strong side of a platoon.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Trade piece for Cubs?
Jim Callis of MLB.com believes Caissie is a player that teams will ask for from the Cubs before Thursday's trade deadline.
Analysis
Caissie is enjoying another strong season with Triple-A Iowa and is slashing .276/.374/.556 with three steals, 20 home runs and 46 RBI across 364 plate appearances. The Cubs already have a star-studded outfield that includes Pete Crow-Armstrong, Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ, which would give the team more leeway to send out Caissie to acquire a position of need like starting or relief pitching.
