2024 Fantasy Outlook
By now it is easy enough to see what Singletary is -- a high-motor runner who will never go down easy, but also one who lacks long-range speed and struggles to produce as a pass catcher. The question of Singletary's 2024 fantasy upside depends on how much the Giants value his solid but somewhat limited profile and whether they can field a competent offense. The lack of experienced alternatives or early draft picks in New York's backfield suggests Singletary has a chance to top his career highs of 216 carries (2023) and 52 targets (2022). Saquon Barkley saw 247 carries and 60 targets in 14 games last year, and Singletary might have a similar volume ceiling despite being an inferior player. It's fair to worry that a 5-foot-8, 203-pound back might wilt under such a heavy workload, though Singletary had no such problems in college at Florida Atlantic, taking 562 carries in his final 26 games (21.6 carries per game). He's also held up well in the NFL with smaller workloads, playing every possible game four straight seasons. Of course, the 2024 Giants offense will likely be significantly worse than the offenses Singletary played in with the Bills and Texans, so this probably won't be the most efficient season of his career. RANKS
Scores fourth rushing TD in loss
Singletary rushed eight times for 25 yards and secured all three targets for 16 yards in the Giants' 35-14 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary tied his highest carry total since Week 4, the last game in which he was still considered the lead back before Tyrone Tracy usurped him for the role. Singletary logged only two fewer carries than his backfield mate Sunday, and his two-yard rushing touchdown late in the first half was his fourth of the campaign. The veteran back should retain a solid complementary role at minimum in a Week 16 road matchup against the vulnerable Falcons defense.

At 5-8, 203, with a 4.66 40 time, Singletary never had the conventional profile of an NFL running back -- not even a backup. That he stuck as long as he did as a starter in Buffalo, which is to say most of the last four years, is in itself a testament to Singletary's mettle. His relentless motor allows him to catch defenders off guard, getting under their pads and knocking them backward despite his weight disadvantage. Over a long sample, though, Singletary's lack of speed and brute strength eventually shows up, leading to the conclusion that he might be best suited as a backup. Signed by the Texans in March to a one-year deal, Singletary should be an effective firecracker off the bench after starter Dameon Pierce tenderizes the defense, and he might even have more ability as a pass catcher than what he showed in Buffalo. Singletary struggled as a receiver with the Bills, but so did James Cook and Zack Moss, both plus pass-catchers in college. The Houston system might improve Singletary's pass-catching efficiency to somewhat offset his playing time decrease.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could reclaim RB1 duties Sunday
Singletary would serve as the Giants' top running back against the Falcons if rookie Tyrone Tracy is unable to play due to an ankle injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was the Giants' top running back at the start of the regular season and registered 56 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns while adding 10 catches on 11 targets for 72 yards through the first four games. He missed the next two games due to a groin injury, which allowed Tracy to usurp Singletary for RB1 duties. However, Tracy is playing through an ankle injury, which caused the two running backs to split duties against the Ravens in Week 15. If Tracy is unable to play in Week 16, Singletary would operate as the lead back while Eric Gray fills in as the backup.
