Bears, Jaguars Take Big Leaps
The Kansas City Chiefs jumped to fifth place on this list after Week 5 when the team got hit with 13 penalties. This week was the flip side of that coin.
The Chiefs were not penalized a single time in the Sunday Night Football win against Detroit and thus are no longer in the top 10 on this list. Kansas City is the biggest favorite in Week 7 NFL odds at major sportsbooks, giving anywhere from 11.5 to 12.5 points for their game at home on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Giants and Broncos, respectively, remain the top two teams on this list. The New England Patriots lead the league in penalties, while New York leads the league in penalty yards. Both teams are currently coached by a someone from the Bill Parcells coaching tree, indicating that the disciplined Parcells approach isn't carrying over to these teams in the penalty department.
Another notable move this week saw Jacksonville go from 10th to fifth. Tennessee moved up to ninth in a week where they fired Brian Callahan as head coach. The Saints skyrocketed up from 17th to 10th after being hit for eight penalties for 67 yards.
The Chicago Bears were hit with nine penalties for 84 yards in their Monday night win against Washington, a flag pace that moved the Bears all the way up to third on this list.

Key Takeaways
There have been 37 instances of a team being penalized 10 or more times in a game this season. That is tied for the fourth most occurrences of that nature through Week 6 in NFL history. It marks the third straight week that this season has ranked fourth or tied for fourth in this category. What this means is that your eyes aren't deceiving you – the officials seem to be very flag happy this season.
