FanDuel Fantasy Football: Week 13 Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel Fantasy Football series.

QUARTERBACK

Tyrod Taylor, BUF vs NE ($7,300): While the New England defense has played better as lately, Taylor is in a good spot Sunday at home. The Patriots have struggled to contain Taylor in the past in Buffalo and Tyrod has at least 43 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown both times he's faced them at New Era Field. Zay Jones has improved and the return of Charles Clay gives Taylor a safety blanket over the middle. With Buffalo likely unable to stop Tom Brady and Co., Taylor should have to throw to keep up and garbage time could be a factor as well.

RUNNING BACK

Kenyan Drake, MIA vs DEN ($5,800): A quick look may have owners looking in another direction, but a few factors work in Drake's favor this week. Damien Williams won't be around to share the workload and Senorise Perry hasn't been cleared from his concussion. That means Drake will get all the work he can handle. It helps he's playing at home as opposed to at Denver, and the Broncos have given up at least 20 points in seven consecutive games.

Jamaal Williams, GB vs TB ($5,700):
This seems like a pretty low price for a player who has 20-plus fantasy point upside on any given week. It doesn't appear that Ty Montgomery or Aaron Jones will be back for this game with Tampa putting Williams in line for at least another 20 touches, something he's done in each of his last three games. The Buccaneers are middle of the pack as far as giving up fantasy points to running backs, and Williams has had 11 targets in the passing game the last two weeks.

WIDE RECEIVER

Cordarrelle Patterson OAK vs NYG ($5,500): Many will point to Josh Gordon ($5,800), but there's a good chance he's shadowed by Casey Hayward, arguably the best cornerback in the league. Patterson could very well be the Raiders' top wide receiver this week with Michael Crabtree suspended and Amari Cooper likely out due to injury. Seth Roberts is another option but has had some terrible drops recently. Patterson had 117 receiving yards in his last two games and it helps that Janoris "Jack Rabbit" Jenkins was placed on IR this week.

Marquise Goodwin, SF at CHI ($5,300):
This pick is better suited for GPPs as Goodwin feels like a boom-or-bust pick this week. It'll be interesting to see what chemistry he has with Jimmy Garoppolo, and there won't be a faster player on the field. Goodwin has been more involved since Pierre Garcon got injured and has at least 68 receiving yards in each of his last three games. The Bears are a decent matchup too, allowing 32.6 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, a number slightly higher than league average.

TIGHT END

Rob Gronkowski, NE at BUF ($8,100): It's not a stretch to recommend the highest paid player at any position, but Gronk should be a contrarian play this week. Down both their wide receivers and against the woeful Giants, Jared Cook will be a popular selection. The other team terrible against tight ends is the Browns, which will make Hunter Henry another popular choice. Those two alone could result in ownership greater than 70 or 80 percent. The price of Gronk will be another factor moving people away from him. However, this is a homecoming game for him and look at his stat lines from the six games he's played in Buffalo:

7-109-1
7-113-1

9-94
11-104-1
9-129-2
7-54-2

He appears extra motivated going back to Buffalo playing in front of his family and friends.

KICKER

Justin Tucker, BAL vs DET ($5,000): Tucker is in play every week regardless of the opponent given how accurate he's been the last few seasons. He's been incredibly consistent in scoring recently with at least nine fantasy points in seven consecutive games, averaging 12.3 fantasy points per game.

DEFENSE

Oakland Raiders vs NYG ($4,600): The Giants have to travel across the country and look like a team that has already quit on this season. It's hard to imagine Geno Smith getting through this game without turning the ball over at least once. More or less, this is fading Geno and a team Ben McAdoo has lost.
