Hearthstone: Top 5 New Cards Revealed (So Far) From Kobolds & Catacombs

This article is part of our Hearthstone series.

The first week of reveals for the new Kobolds & Catacombs set has come to an end and we have seen about one-third of the cards. Even though the release date is still a secret… We can look at what have been the most powerful cards revealed so far!

5. Voidlord:

This thing is a tank. Combined with the deathrattle, that is 18 health across four different minions with Taunt. The truly scary part of it though is how well it fits into what Warlock main objective. As a Demon, it fits right into the current Death Knight Warlock build as it would be triggered by Bloodreaver Guldan's resurrect. It gives the deck a ton of sustainability and protection as the goal of the deck is to take most matchups into fatigue. Yes, Silence would hurt its value a lot, but it would still have its Deathrattle effect after it is resurrected.

4. Fal'dorie Strider:

This is a much, much-improved version of Beneath The Grounds. What made the spell fall short was the tempo lost by not having any immediate impact on board. Now, Rogues can manufacture the three unexpected 4/4 bodies from their own deck without sacrificing an entire turn. Also, Rogues lacked a reliable 4-mana minion as Sherazin and Saranite Chain Gang just are not effective enough, making Fal'dorie even more valuable.

3. Twig of the World Tree:

As one of the most interesting cards in the expansion, the first ever Druid weapon has a lot of combo potential. The Druid can control when they trigger the Deathrattle, giving them 20 mana in a single turn, 30 if you want to get fancy with Kun the Forgotten King. It is also a very difficult combo to prevent, as you do not want to use weapon removal on it early and give the opponent early mana ramp. Simply fitting this into current Druid archetypes allows you to use Ultimate Infestation, break the weapon and then have 10 more mana to build the board.

2. Psychic Scream:
This is the 'Ultimate Infestation' of this set so far, as it's the card that feels so overpowered that it's frustrating to think about. This instantly becomes the best board clear in the game and provides much-needed protection to arguably the strongest deck in Hearthstone, Highlander Priest. What makes this card so strong is that since the cards are shuffled into the deck, you don't even have to worry about the consequences of any Deathrattle effects as none of the effects will be triggered. While you could argue it only delays the problem, Highlander needs time in order to win and this card creates plenty of time to get the job done.

1. Duskbreaker:

Oh, my, god. Remember how Control Priests would use Excavated Evil as a vital tool to eliminate early boards? Now, what if I told you that it was back, cost one less mana and you get a 3/3 minion on board? Ridiculous right? This card helps to bring Dragon Priest back to a top-tier deck as it helps deal with the early pressure of aggro decks. This card allows the deck to stick to its control style, stealing cards with Drakonid Operative and creating more Dragons with Netherspite Historian.
