  • 8:30 p.m: 100 Thieves vs. Evil Geniuses (EG)
  • 9:30 p.m: FlyQuest (FLY) vs. Cloud9 (C9)

100 vs. EG

Two-game slates like this tend to be very chalky, so expect the majority of people to be on EG and C9 during the LCS's opening night. That being said, I give 100 Thieves a pretty strong chance to upset here. They started playing better towards the end of Spring, finding their way into the playoffs, while EG tend to play a bit of a more chaotic style, led by Jiizuke in the mid lane. Neither team made a roster change, as EG's main pickup was Huni, who will play academy at least for the time being. EG will see advantages in the jungle and at support, while 100 Thieves biggest advantage is through Ssumday against EG's weakest player, Kumo, in the top lane. If 100 can just keep Jiizuke from snowballing in the early game, I have faith that Ryoma and CodySun can carry late; but if this game gets out of hand early, it will be an EG snowball. It's not the safest bet, but I'm going to back 100 Thieves for the upset in the opening game of the Summer Split.

Predicition: 100 win

  • 100 Players to Target: Ssumday ($5,800), Ryoma ($7,000), CodySun ($7,200), 100 Team ($4,800)
  • EG Players to Target: Svenskeren ($6,800), Jiizuke ($7,400), Bang ($7,600), Zeyzal ($5,400), EG Team ($5,200)

FLY vs. C9

Expect the overwhelming majority of people to have a four-man C9 stack of some kind, so if you want to go for straight up leverage, that'd be my only reason to suggest FlyQuest. It's hard to imagine Cloud9 losing after an absolutely dominant Spring Split. Cloud9 keeps the same roster from Spring, while FlyQuest's only change is getting rid of V1per and handing over the full-time reigns to Solo in the top lane. Anyone on Cloud9 is in play here, with the most consideration going towards Blaber, Nisqy and Zven as the main carries of the team. If you do end up looking at FlyQuest, PowerOfEvil remains the main threat to carry this team throughout the split.

Prediction: C9 win

  • FLY Players to Target: Santorin ($6,200), PowerOfEvil ($6,800)
  • C9 Players to Target: All in play
