Mumbai Indians vs. Rajasthan Royals: 27th IPL Match Preview

After edging past Kings XI Punjab thanks to Kieron Pollard's belligerence, Mumbai Indians take on Rajasthan Royals on at home in what is touted to be a one-sided encounter unless the Ajinkya Rahane-led side can conjure up some magic with their existing resources.

Mumbai are peaking at about the right time while Rajasthan need a massive facelift to come out of the shambolic state they are in right now. Rohit Sharma is expected to be available for this fixture after missing the last game due to injury.

Conditions: The Wankhede has seen high scores and another one is on the cards unless the pacers can use the early movement on offer.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Jos Buttler (10.5 credits)

Buttler has slowed down after another good start to the season but with the surface expected to be lightning quick and the powerplay spinners not very threatening, the Englishman is a great fantasy pick to have. Expect him to go blazing from the word go if he finds his rhythm early, which he should.

Batsman: Suryakumar Yadav (9 credits)

Familiar with the conditions and reliably batting behind the opening duo, Suryakumar has been getting starts without quite converting them. The Rajasthan bowling attack should suit his tastes. A terrific player with shots all around the wicket, Suryakumar will be expected to done the anchor role in this line-up.

All-rounder: Hardik Pandya (9.5 credits)

All-rounder: Hardik Pandya (9.5 credits)

Hardik has more than one way of influencing the game given his all-round abilities. He has been striking the ball pretty well and even if expensive when bowling, has managed to pick up wickets which is great from a fantasy perspective. He ought to be one of the first names in your fantasy team sheet.

Bowler: Jofra Archer (8.5 credits)

The Wankhede surface should suit Jofra Archer who hit Dhoni on the helmet with a vicious bouncer the other day. Generating good pace off the deck and hustling batsmen for room is his speciality and if Rajasthan recognise that, he should have an early crack at the top-order.

Uncapped pick: Rahul Chahar (8 credits)

Rahul Chahar has flown under the radar for Mumbai despite being quite impactful with the ball. The leggie has silently replaced Mayank Markande and has been befuddling batsmen with his variations and smart thinking. The first-choice uncapped player for this game ought to be Chahar.

Captain: Jos Buttler

Vice-captain: Suryakumar Yadav

Predicted Playing XI:

Rajasthan Royals: Ajinkya Rahane, Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi, Ben Stokes, Riyan Parag, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat/Varun Aaron, Dhawal Kulkarni

Mumbai Indians: Siddhesh Lad or Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Alzarri Joseph, Jason Behrendorff, Jasprit Bumrah
