Chinatrust Brothers (35-22) at Rakuten Monkeys (30-25)
Sunday, July 12nd, 5:05 AM EDT
Projected Starters
LHP Ariel Miranda (5-5, 4.08 ERA) vs LHP Wang Yi-Cheng (5-3, 4.94 ERA)
Game Preview
This game was supposed to be the opening game of the 2020 CPBL season, but it could also be the game where a team wins the first half of the season – the Brothers just need to win or tie this matchup in order to clinch the title and secure a postseason berth. It would be a deserved prize for the most consistent team over the last few months, although the Monkeys will probably want to say something about this – they will be playing at home and were the top team in the standings for the first few months of the 2019 campaign. The Brothers will send Ariel Miranda as the starter for this contest, and he has been one of the best pitchers in the league in 2020. The Brothers will counter with one of their best local arms, Wang Yi-Cheng, who has faced Chinatrust twice this season, winning both starts.

Top picks:
Ariel Miranda, Brothers: Miranda might only have a 1-2 record with a 5.19 ERA against the Monkeys this season, but he has been one of the best pitchers in the league in 2020 and should be in line for another strong outing here, especially since the Monkeys offense is not what it used to be earlier this season.
Chang Chih-Hao, Brothers: Chang went 1-for-3 Saturday and improved his batting average to an impressive .351 mark, although he remains far from the league leaders in that category. He has shown an ability do it all, though – he also has 15 home runs, 56 RBI and a 1.032 OPS.
Lin Li, Monkeys: Li did not play Saturday, and all theories indicate the Monkeys wanted to keep him as fresh as possible for this key game. He is one of the best offensive weapons in the league and should be the Monkeys' biggest threat in this matchup.
Chou Szu-Chi, Brothers: Chou continues to be one of the best value picks in every slate the Brothers are involved in, as he ranks among the best outfielders despite having a relatively low cost. He enters this matchup hitting .338 with a .405 on-base percentage.
