With just two games on tonight's NBA Cup slate, fantasy managers are digging deep into the fantasy basketball waiver wire to squeeze out every edge. Light schedules always make streaming essential, especially with updated NBA injury reports reshaping rotations and NBA lineups. Whether you're checking fantasy basketball rankings, consulting a fantasy basketball cheat sheet, or comparing NBA projections to decide your next move, identifying the right short-term adds matters.
Below, we break down the three most-added players on Yahoo today and evaluate whether they offer simple streaming value or potential staying power as the season evolves.
Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire
Rui Hachimura, Lakers
The most-added player of the day, Rui Hachimura, isn't exactly an exciting pickup — but on a two-game slate, excitement isn't really the point. What matters is minutes, a stable role and a chance at usable production. Hachimura checks all three boxes.
Over his past 10 games, Hachimura has averaged 12 points and 4 rebounds in 31 minutes, giving him a predictable baseline in deeper formats or points leagues. Managers aren't adding him because they expect a breakout; they're adding him because they need someone who will be on the court tonight.
The challenge, of course, is the r eturn of LeBron James. When LeBron plays, Hachimura's usage and offensive opportunities take a noticeable dip. He becomes reliant on efficiency and spot-up chances, and that naturally limits his fantasy ceiling. Still, with so few alternatives available, Hachimura remains a perfectly fine one-day stream. Just don't expect anything beyond his usual production.
Luguentz Dort, Thunder
Lu Dort makes his return tonight after missing the past three games, and fantasy managers are quick to take advantage. At this point in his career, Dort is one of the most predictable role players in the league. You know exactly what he brings: defensive activity and threes.
So far this season, Dort is averaging 8 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist, along with 1.4 stocks (steals + blocks) and 1.6 made threes in 29 minutes per game. It's the definition of a 3-and-D stat line. On a big slate, it might be tough to justify streaming someone with such a narrow profile. But on a night like this, Dort's ability to chip in across defensive categories makes him a completely reasonable plug-and-play.
If you're in need of threes, steals or simply a warm body who isn't going to tank your percentages, Dort is one of the safest options available.
Dylan Harper, Spurs
While technically not the third-most-added player today (Aaron Wiggins holds that spot), Dylan Harper is by far the most interesting. Unlike Hachimura and Dort, who are pure one-day streamers, Harper offers a realistic chance of becoming something more — though that comes with plenty of uncertainty.
Harper is currently just 25% rostered, meaning he's available in plenty of competitive standard leagues. Since returning from injury, his minutes have increased in every game, culminating in a breakout performance two nights ago: 22 points and 6 assists, falling just two assists shy of his career high. His ability to get downhill, pressure defenses and create plays for others stands out immediately on the floor and in the box score.
However, the situation gets complicated. Stephon Castle returned the same night Harper had his best game, and the on-court fit is a concern. Harper's usage dips 11% when sharing the floor with Castle, and eventually adding Victor Wembanyama back into the mix could squeeze him even further. The question isn't whether Harper is talented — he clearly is — but whether he'll get enough consistent opportunity to matter in standard leagues.
Still, on a night where managers are looking for quick fantasy value, Harper offers both short-term production and long-term upside. He's a viable streamer today and a speculative hold in deeper formats. If you have a spot you typically use for revolving-week streams, Harper is worth grabbing for a week or two just to see where the trend goes.
