Staying with Pittsburgh
Dewar signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Penguins on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Dewar did not receive a qualifying offer from Pittsburgh by Monday's deadline, but he is ultimately staying with the team that acquired him in March. The left-shot forward logged just three helpers over 31 regular-season appearances with Toronto in 2024-25, but he fared much better in his time with the Pens, generating four goals and three helpers over 17 appearances. The 26-year-old is set to be a fixture in the bottom six this coming season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Despite setting a new career-high with 11 goals last season, Dewar once again failed to reach the 20-point threshold for the second straight year. The 25-year-old Manitoba native figures to be firmly cemented in a bottom-six role with the Maple Leafs and is unlikely to push for much in the way of power-play ice time. As such, fantasy managers probably shouldn't be expecting a lot of production out of the natural center. Still, if there are injuries further up the depth chart, Dewar's hard-working nature could earn him a look with some of Toronto's stars, albeit temporarily, assuming he has fully recovered from offseason shoulder surgery.
