Yahoo DFS Baseball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Wednesday's 14-game MLB slate begins at 12:10 PM Eastern time. Below you'll find recommendations from all over the price range, including a pitching combo of the reliable Dallas Keuchel and the electric Shane Bieber.

PITCHER

Dallas Keuchel, HOU vs. TOR ($43): It's hard to argue against using Keuchel at home here, especially with five other options also priced at $43 or more. His career home ERA is just 3.05, as the talented lefty knows how to exploit Minute Maid Park's heavily pitcher-friendly lean. This year's version of the Houston venue is no exception with a park factor of just 0.81. Toronto ranks close to average in both runs per game and strikeouts, so expect the Astros ace to thrive as usual in this unremarkable matchup.

Shane Bieber, CLE at STL ($33): Bieber's ceiling is tremendous for a $33 pitcher. The first Indians pitcher to whiff at least six batters in each of his first three starts since 1964 has a 29.0 percent strikeout rate to go with a 2.45 ERA that's corroborated by a 2.61 FIP and 2.62 xFIP. St. Louis ranks below average in runs scored and strikes out more than average, so the rookie has a great opportunity to keep the good times rolling.

CATCHER

John Ryan Murphy, ARI at MIA ($15): Assuming Murphy gets the nod behind the plate for this one, Arizona's most offensively gifted catcher makes for a strong play against Marlins southpaw Wei-Yin Chen. Murphy owns a .397 wOBA through 52 at-bats against lefties this season while Chen has surrendered a .398 mark to the 189 right-handed batters he's faced.

FIRST BASE

Matt Olson, OAK at DET ($20): Tigers righty Mike Fiers is allowing a .346 wOBA to batters from the left side after surrendering a .347 mark last season, and his HR/9 is at 1.85 after a 1.88 result in 2017. Olson's primed to feast on those weaknesses, as 34 of his 41 home runs in 138 games played since the start of last season have come against right-handed pitching.

SECOND BASE

Dee Gordon, SEA at BAL ($13): Gordon should have a field day against Orioles starter Alex Cobb, who is allowing a .414 wOBA to batters from the left side this season. In addition to his production at the plate, Seattle's leadoff man is also a major threat to add value on the bases, as he's swiped 80 bags since the start of last season.

THIRD BASE

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. SD ($17): The 39-year-old Beltre is still a productive player out of the cleanup spot for Texas. His .344 wOBA against lefties still has plenty of room for improvement considering he finished at .464 just last season, and that improvement could well begin at home against Clayton Richard. Richard has allowed a .380 wOBA to right-handed hitters on the road in his career, and Globe Life Park in Arlington's fourth-ranked, 1.27 park factor makes it one of the league's most difficult venues for pitchers.

SHORTSTOP

Nick Ahmed, ARI at MIA ($14): Ahmed's another Arizona slugger primed to provide solid value at a light-hitting position against Chen. The shortstop's .378 wOBA against left-handed pitching this season suggests he's likely to capitalize on Chen's aforementioned struggles against right-handed hitters.

OUTFIELD

Eddie Rosario, MIN at CWS ($26): This is the time to pay up for Rosario, as he faces a vulnerable righty in James Shields. Rosario's wOBA against righties this season is a tremendous .422 while Shields allowed at least a .370 wOBA to batters from the left side in every campaign from 2015 to 2017. Shields has been better in that split this season, but his results over a bigger sample suggest that improvement won't last.

Rhys Hoskins, PHI vs. NYY ($21): Yankees righty Luis Cessa will be making his first start of the season in order to better position the rotation for the team's upcoming series against Boston, but his spot-start creates a great opportunity for Philly sluggers to thrive in the meantime. Cessa is actually more vulnerable to righties despite being one himself, as his career .349 wOBA allowed to them is .060 higher than his mark against lefties. Hoskins performs equally against pitchers from both sides (.387 wOBA vs. right, .388 vs. left), making him a perfect candidate to capitalize on Cessa's unusual splits.

Manuel Margot, SD at TEX ($16): Margot already proved capable of exploiting Texas' hitter-friendly conditions with a long ball out of the leadoff spot in Monday's series opener, and he's set up for another productive outing here. The right-handed slugger's .332 career wOBA against lefties is .037 higher than his mark against righties, and he'll face an unimpressive southpaw here in Mike Minor, who's allowing a .353 wOBA to batters from the right side.
