FanDuel MLB: Saturday Targets

FanDuel MLB: Saturday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

We've got a slightly limited 10-game slate to break down Saturday evening. Only two arms are priced in five-digits, and given some of the other options on the mound, it doesn't seem like paying up for a top option is a requirement. Of course, that also means we can expect low usage from Brandon Woodruff ($11,000) and Julio Urias ($10,000).

Pitching

Yu Darvish, SD vs. ARI ($9,000): Darvish isn't in great form, having allowed four or more runs in four of his last five starts, 21 in total across 25.2 innings. But this matchup is too soft to ignore. Arizona ranks 28th with a .293 wOBA against righties, fanning at a usable 24.4 percent while posting a meager .134 ISO. Darvish has posted 60 FanDuel points (FDP) across two starts against them, most recently fanning seven across six innings while allowing one run.

Charlie Morton, ATL vs. WAS ($8,700): Morton has been incredibly consistent, going for 25 FDP or more in all but five starts all season, including eight straight. The Nats' splits aren't largely relevant given their selloff, and we're going to be targeting them nightly, even if Juan Soto (knee) is healthy and in the lineup Saturday. Anything less than a quality start would be a disappointment.

Eli Morgan, CLE vs. DET ($6,700): There are plenty of options in the 8k range that merit consideration, but if you're looking to pay down, Morgan could be the guy. His 6.75 ERA isn't supported by a 4.19 xFIP, and he's fanning 10.13 per nine, giving him some upside when paired with the Tigers' 25.7 percent K rate. He put up 21 FDP against Detroit previously, and I like that as his floor.

Top Targets

Austin Meadows, TB at BAL ($3,800): Meadows is a high upside, low floor option, so a GPP target only. But his .380 wOBA, 148 wRC+ and .308 ISO against righties works well in this spot. O's starter Spenser Watkins has allowed four runs in consecutive starts, and his 3.81 ERA isn't legit, as he sports a 5.42 xFIP.

Manny Machado, SD vs. ARI ($3,700): Machado's .371 wOBA and 134 wRC+ lead Padre regulars with Fernando Tatis on the IL. He'd hit safely in nine straight and 16 of 17 entering Friday evening, and has a plus matchup against Taylor Widener, who has allowed five runs in each of his last three starts, spanning 12.2 innings.

Value Bats

Brendan Rodgers, COL vs. MIA ($3,500): Rodgers entered Friday in the midst of a 12-game hitting streak, so fingers crossed no jinx here. Even still, that's a hot hitter who also carries a .448 wOBA and .389 ISO against lefties. Trevor Story ($4,300) is surging if you want to pay up for a Rockie bat, but Rodgers looks to have stability and upside in a plus matchup against Jesus Luzardo, who's allowing a .452 wOBA and 1.091 OPS to righties.

Salvador Perez, KC at STL ($3,300): Placeholder only, as we don't know Perez' status due to illness. But he's hitting .276 with 27 bombs, 68 RBI, adding a .452 wOBA, 190 wRC+ and .364 ISO against lefties. You can't often get that type of upside for this number.

Stack to Consider

Reds vs. Mitch Keller: Joey Votto ($4,100), Jesse Winker ($4,100), Nick Castellanos ($3,500)

Castellanos being in his third game back from injury allows us to get these three studs at a combined reasonable price in a very juicy spot. Keller is allowing a .387 wOBA and .908 OPS to lefties, and a .373/.869 OPS to righties. Votto leads the way here with a .443 wOBA, 176 wRC+ and .354 ISO. Winker goes .441/174/.283 and Castellanos .412/156/.253. There's massive potential here.
