The Skinny
After an earthquake postponed the second half of their game against the Mystics on Friday, the Aces will face another tough opponent in the Liberty in a battle of two high-octane offenses. New York is amongst the league's worst defenses allowing a sieve-like 82.8 points per game and boasting a 100.7 defensive rating -- third worst in the WNBA. It could be fertile ground for a Liz Cambage breakout as the Liberty are allowing a league-worst 25.5 points and 11.7 rebounds to opposing centers. Cambage, who's struggled to return to her 2018 form, is averaging 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game but has failed to eclipse the 20-point threshold yet this year. Kayla McBride and Kelsey Plum should similarly benefit as the Liberty are nearly as bad at defending guards, allowing a league-worst 49.3 points and 11.0 assists to opponents' backcourts. To make matters worse for New York, Las Vegas plays at the league's quickest pace and likely benefited from the additional rest after the second half of Friday's game was postponed.
For what they lack on defense, New York makes up on offense. The Liberty also play at a breakneck speed and are one of the best shooting teams in the WNBA, boasting a 52.4 true shooting percentage -- good for third-best in the league. Unfortunately, however, the Aces form a staunch defense without any glaring weaknesses. In their last meeting, the Aces blew away the Liberty, winning 100-65. Considering it may be difficult to exploit a specific matchup, the offensive load will likely fall on New York's usual contributors. Consequently, look for Tina Charles and Kia Nurse to see heavy workloads. Charles comes into Sunday's tilt on a four-game streak of scoring 20-plus points, while Nurse has totaled 50 points in her past two outings. Charles scored just six points and played just 17 minutes in the team's previous meaning and considering that she's New York's best player, any improvement will likely have to stem from her improvement.

The Skinny
The Mystics, who boast a league leading 9-3 record and incredible 109.6 offensive rating, come into Sunday's tilt against the Sparks as the league's top offense and one of its stingiest defenses. In the teams' previous matchup, the Mystics bench played a pivotal role as they have much of the season, with Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scoring a season-high 17 points in 18 minutes and Tianna Hawkins chipping in 10 points and three steals in just 15 minutes of run. With Friday's tilt with the Aces ending prematurely due to an earthquake, the Mystics will have the added benefit of extra rest, which could make their offensive attack even more explosive. As usual, Elena Delle Donne and Ariel Atkins are good bets to provide scoring while Kristi Toliver remains one of the preeminent point guard's in her 11th professional season.
While Los Angeles faces a tall task defensively, they have more than enough offensively to turn the tide on Washington. The Sparks play at a blistering pace, averaging 98.6 possessions per game, through they translate those possessions into a middling 77.8 points per game. Their strength offensively lies in a deep frontcourt highlighted by Candace Parker, Chiney Ogwumike and Nneka Ogwumike. Parker appears to be rounding into form after missing the first seven games of the season due to a hamstring injury and has reached double-figures in each of her past three games. She was a detrimental factor in the teams' first meeting, finishing with just three points on 1-of-9 shooting, five rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes. Chiney Ogwumike mostly transitioned to a bench role since the June 18th game and could pose more of a threat for the Mystics' outstanding bench. The Mystics are one of the league's best defenses and have held opponents to just 73.2 points per game while generating a league-leading 16.7 turnovers. It will be key for the Sparks guards, Chelsea Gray and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, to take care of the rock, a duty they've been relatively mediocre at thus far this year.

The Skinny
The Sun may prove to be a tough opponent for the Wings, who already struggle to generate offense due to their leisurely pace of play. Dallas has translated 91.36 possessions on average per game -- second slowest in the league -- into a mere 70.5 points. With Skylar Diggins-Smith recovering from a recent pregnancy, Arike Ogunbowale has stepped up recently to try to alleviate their offensive woes which have been magnified by their plodding pace. Ogunbowale, the 5th overall pick in the 2019 draft, has averaged 18.4 points and 18.2 shot attempts over her past five games. Aside from Kayla Thornton, who chips in 11.2 points on average, the Wings' offense is largely pieced together haphazardly from game-to-game. 11-of-14 players listed on the roster have started at least one game, and 7-of-12 healthy players are averaging at least 6.0 points per game. The Sun play solid, if unspectacular, defense, and are holding opponents to 77.0 points per game. That said, they've struggled against forwards this year, giving up 41.1 points per game to the position group -- second worst in the league. Kayla Thorton and Theresa Plaisance are best positioned to exploit that weakness for the Wings.
On the flip side, the Sun's starting lineup packs most of their punch offensively. They've started the same five in each game this season, and all starters are averaging at least 9.5 points per game, topping out with Jonquel Jones, who's contributing 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks each contest. The Wings play suffocating defense, though they are weak to the forward position -- allowing a league worst 42.2 points and 18.7 rebounds per game. In the teams' last matchup, the Wings managed to come out on top, recording a 74-73 victory on June 26th. While both Alyssa and Jasmine Thomas put up monster stat lines, the Sun were undermined by their bench, who contributed just six points on the night. Jones, both Thomas', Courtney Williams and Shekinna Stricklen are all decent bets to put up solid lines.

The Skinny
The Dream, who play at the league's slowest pace and average a league worst 69.9 points per game, will face a formidable Phoenix defense that's giving up just 75.0 points per game on average -- fourth-best league wide. For Atlanta, Tiffany Hayes and Brittney Sykes will lead the attack as they're the only two Dreammates to contribute more than 10.0 points per game on average. Neither has been very efficient this season, and each is shooting below 41.0 percent from the field, 34.0 percent from three and 70.4 percent from the line on the year. The Mercury, headed by the Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner tandem, have been extra-stringy to opponents frontcourts, and are allowing just 23.3 points to forwards and 13.0 points to centers per game, second and fourth best in league wide respectively. Both Hayes and Sykes play from the outside in, and could benefit from the Mercury's concentration on the paint. Over her past three games, Elizabeth Williams has averaged 11.3 points and 6.7 rebounds, and could provide some pivotal offense if she can continue her streak of strong play.
Like they do on defense, Griner and Bonner pack the primary offensive punch for the Mercury, contributing a combined 37.7 points, 14.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. Though they play at the leagues slowest pace (91.08 possessions per game), the Mercury boast the fifth-best offensive rating in the league at 98.0. Leilani Mitchell has stepped up as lead guard in the absence of Diana Taurasi, who's missed the entirety of the year due to a back injury and is averaging a career-best 12.1 points, 4.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds in nine games this year. She's been one of the few sources of offense outside of Bonner and Griner for the Mercury, who have just five players averaging more than 7.0 points per game. Like their 2-9 record implies, the Dream are not a great defensive team, allowing 80.9 points per game, third worst in the league, though they're thankfully not especially bad against the frontcourt positions.
