This fight was closer than the scorecards would lead you to believe, but it still feels as if Romious missed out on a big opportunity in his UFC debut, especially as a -250 favorite. He tried to get his grappling game going, and to some extent, was successful. Romious parlayed four successful takedowns into 6:13 worth of control time, but landed just 17 significant strikes. The bigger offensive moments definitely came from the Bolanos side and that was more than enough to sway the judges. Romious made two appearances on Dana White's Contender Series, getting knocked out in 29 seconds the first time and winning a unanimous decision the next. He may not have the wiggle room typical alums of the series aware awarded.
