FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The NHL is going to be off for a few days soon, so perhaps it isn't surprising there are a ton of games Saturday. 14 contests on the slate, but a lot of them are in the afternoon. You can play an eight-game slate starting at 7:00 PM ET if you would like, but it's the holidays! I wanted to use the whole docket of games to make my daily fantasy lineup recommendations. So if you can get your lineup in by 1:00 PM ET or even if you have to wait until later, this should help.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. DAL ($8,500): Dubnyk has been up and down, but he's been more up recently. Over his last seven games, he has posted a 2.30 GAA and .924 save percentage – including a 1.77 GAA and .937 GAA in four home starts. Meanwhile, the Stars have only scored 2.74 goals per game, which is near the bottom of the NHL rankings.

CENTER

Nicklas Backstrom, WAS at OTT ($7,500): Backstrom is tearing it up this season, with 40 points through 34 games – including 16 with the extra man. Sure, the Capitals are on the second night of a back-to-back, but so are the Senators. That's the same Senators team that ranks last in GAA and shots allowed per game, mind you.

Nazem Kadri, TOR vs. NYR ($5,600): Kadri may be a third-line center, but it isn't hurting his numbers. Over his last five games, he has notched seven points. It also helps that he still gets time on the power play. Being on the road has not gone well for the Rangers this season, who enter with an NHL second-highest 4.27 GAA in away games.

WING

Jonathan Huberdeau, FLA at DET ($7,100): Huberdeau has only potted nine goals this season after 27 last year, and he's not shooting as much. However, he's made up for that by being a playmaker. The 25-year-old has racked up 31 assists in 33 games, including 12 on the power play. Detroit comes in with a 3.19 GAA – bottom-10 in the NHL – thanks largely to the fact it has given up 34.5 shots on net per contest.

Gustav Nyquist, DET vs. FLA ($6,200): December has been like a month-long Christmas for Nyquist, with six goals and seven assists in 11 games. He only has recorded nine goals on the season, but his shooting percentage seems to be on the climb. The Panthers are another team that has been a disaster on the road with a 4.00 GAA in away games, thanks in part to a staggeringly-bad .866 save percentage.

Kevin Labanc, SAN vs. LOS ($4,300): Labanc is a bit of a power-play specialist. He registered 17 of his 40 points with the extra man last season, and 11 of his 23 points this year have come on the power play. That's not a problem in this matchup, as the Kings own the 29th-ranked penalty kill.

DEFENSE

Mark Giordano, CGY vs. STL ($6,300): Giordano is a beast on the blue line. He's tallied 35 points in 34 games, including 12 on the man-advantage. The veteran defenseman has also blocked 68 shots for good measure. St. Louis has slumped to a 3.39 GAA, and Jake Allen's save percentage has fallen to .898.

Jake Gardiner, TOR vs. NYR ($4,900):Morgan Rielly is still having a great season, but now Gardiner is getting in on the fun. Over his last nine games, he's notched 11 points. The Rangers, as previously noted, have struggled on the road to the tune of a 4.27 GAA. And they've also given up 35.3 shots on net per contest in away matchups.
