2024 Fantasy Outlook
Frank Reich's plan to surround Bryce Young with reliable, veteran skill players last season was a massive failure. Sanders stumbled to career lows in rushing yards and yards per carry, as defenses had little reason to worry about Carolina's passing game and the team's offensive line couldn't open holes for him. Chuba Hubbard quickly passed the former Eagle on the depth chart, and the Panthers grabbed Jonathon Brooks in the second round of the 2024 draft to eventually become their new feature back. Once Brooks proved he's fully recovered from his knee injury, Sanders could struggle to find snaps. Read Past Outlooks

Dealing with heel injury
Sanders sat out minicamp practice Tuesday with a heel injury, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Obeserver reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Dave Canales said Sanders had something "flare up" with his heel, and he's missing practice time this week. Overall, it doesn't sound like a serious issue for Sanders, but he's missing valuable reps with his new coaching staff. The Panthers drafted Jonathon Brooks in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft to join Chuba Hubbard in the backfield, so Sanders looks like he's going to head into training camp no higher than third on the running back depth chart. His inability to play special teams would make him a tough player to have active on game days if that's the case.

Sanders may have preferred to stay in Philadelphia, where the running is easy and the touchdowns plentiful, but with the Panthers he'll make more money and have a secure rushing workload. Whereas the Panthers appear dependent on Sanders for regular production, the Eagles had a variety of options at their disposal and would sometimes go away from Sanders in the game plan. He'll likely have a a worse per-carry average and lower TD rate with the Panthers, but he may also get more overall touches after averaging 13.5 to 16.4 per game in four seasons with the Eagles. It could be a worthwhile tradeoff, especially if new coach Frank Reich can get the Panthers offense into some kind of shape. Chuba Hubbard looms as a capable alternative, but he's not as gifted of a runner as Sanders and might get the bulk of his work on passing downs, where Sanders is less useful. While that might come with risk of getting phased when the Panthers abandon the run, it's also possible Sanders gets more involved in the passing game (only 20 catches last year) on early downs as a check-down for rookie QB Bryce Young.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Team adds backfield competition
Sanders will face additional competition for touches from Jonathon Brooks, whom the Panthers selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Brooks is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in November while playing for Texas, but that didn't stop him from being the first running back drafted in 2024 at 46th overall. Sanders has a chance to carve out a larger role under a new coaching staff after losing the starting job to Chuba Hubbard last year, but the former Eagles running back will be fighting an uphill battle for touches against both Brooks and Hubbard.
