Links back up with Cowboys
Davis signed a contract with the Cowboys on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis gives the Cowboys additional depth at running back while Miles Sanders (knee) and Jaydon Blue (heel) recover from injuries. Despite the short turnaround before Saturday's preseason opener against the Rams, Davis may see some action, as he should have a quicker learning curve after spending last season on Dallas' practice squad.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
The Cowboys' decision to let Tony Pollard leave and replace him with just retread Ezekiel Elliott points to a backfield committee in 2024, which could provide opportunities for depth players to make surprising contributions. Davis has plenty of experience in committees dating days to his college days at Florida, but he didn't see a single snap on offense last season, spending most of the year on the practice squad. He doesn't have any standout traits, and while he can handle duties on all three downs, he's limited to gaining the yards his blocking creates for him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could see increased role
Davis would serve as the backup to Ezekiel Elliott if Tony Pollard is unable to play Thursday, the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard suffered a thigh injury in Dallas' Week 16 win over the Eagles, and he has yet to practice ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Titans. Even so, owner Jerry Jones said he expects the running back to suit up. However, if he is forced to sit, Davis would handle snaps and touches behind Elliott. The rookie saw a season-high 19 offensive snaps and eight rushing attempts in Week 8 when Zeke was sidelined, but Davis has played only four offensive snaps combined across his last five games.
