2025 Fantasy Outlook
Thibodeaux's 2024 campaign was by some measures a disappointment following his breakthrough 2023 season. The edge rusher's sack total fell from 11.5 to 5.5, and he missed five contests due to a wrist injury. The Giants bolstered their edge-rush unit during the offseason by signing veteran Chauncey Golston and drafting Abdul Carter, which could lead to less snaps for Thibodeaux. That said, the additions should also provide better matchups for Thibodeaux, so a big sack total is certainly possible. Read Past Outlooks

Thibodeaux (shoulder) has been ruled out ahead of Monday night's matchup against the Patriots, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Oregon product logged consecutive DNPs to begin the Giants' week of practice and is now in line to miss his third game in a row due to a shoulder injury. While Thibodeaux remains sidelined Monday, expect 2025 first-round pick Abdul Carter and Brian Burns to operate as the Giants' top edge rushers.

2022
In his sophomore campaign, Thibodeaux fulfilled the promise the Giants saw in him when they drafted him fifth overall in 2022, as he tied for 12th in the NFL with 11.5 sacks. He did sputter out a bit late in the campaign - he had only a half sack over five games following the team's Week 13 bye - but the overall picture he painted was of a potentially dominant pass rusher for years to come. New York's addition of Brian Burns via trade in the offseason should improve Thibodeaux's outlook further, as opponents will have a harder time double-teaming him with Burns now in the fold.
Thibodeaux didn't rack up sacks like some expected him to in his rookie campaign, but he still demonstrated the ability to be a dominant NFL defender. The fifth overall pick in the 2022 Draft logged a modest four sacks, but he also registered 40 pressures, 25 hurries and five batted passes along with 49 tackles. Thibodeaux is unquestionably a big part of the Giants' future, and he'll be given every opportunity to grow into an elite pass rusher. He'll likely become even more of an IDP asset in fantasy as he further learns the intricacies of the NFL game.
The Giants got an immediate impact player when they selected Thibodeaux with the fifth pick in the 2022 Draft. An athletic specimen, Thibodeaux racked up 19 sacks across three college seaons. In New York, he could be a monster on the edge in new defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale's blitz-heavy scheme, and he's already being mentioned as an early favorite for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. The sky's the limit for Thibodeaux, so he's worth a look in IDP leagues, despite a likely rookie learning curve.

Not yet ruled out for season
LBNew York Giants
December 1, 2025
Thibodeaux missed his third straight game Monday night due to a shoulder injury, but Giants interim coach Mike Kafka isn't willing to declare that the edge rusher will be shut down for the rest of the season, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports. "I think it's too soon to tell," Kafka said. "He's working his tail off to get back and get better. Our doctors are taking care of him."
ANALYSIS
Thibodeaux has had a tough season along with the rest of the Giants, recording what would be a career-low 2.5 sacks in 10 games so far. With New York playing for nothing but pride and 2026 draft position, shutting down injured players like Thibodeaux could become a consideration on the other side of the team's Week 14 bye, but for now the Giants are anticipating having him back at some point over the final four games of the season.
