Jaylen Wright

21-Year-Old Running BackRB
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Most draft analysts expected Wright to go sooner than the fourth round this spring, and the combination of a crowded Miami backfield and disappointing draft capital doesn't exactly hint at big-time production Year 1. On the other hand, Raheem Mostert has shown that a running back with Wright's approximate height/weight/speed dimensions can post big numbers in the Mike McDaniel offense. Wright ran a 4.38 40 at 5-11, 210, confirming that he has speed to turn the corner and split safeties in the NFL, after he frequently did so at Tennessee. He averaged 6.0 yards on 146 carries in 2022 and then 7.4 YPC across 137 carries his final season, providing first-rate efficiency on medium-sized workloads in a spread offense. Wright probably isn't much of a power runner and caught only 30 passes in three collegiate seasons, but if Mostert or De'Von Achane misses any time the rookie should offer timely firepower as a rushing specialist. Racks up 77 total yards Friday

August 23, 2024
Wright (undisclosed) rushed seven times for 36 yards and caught four of six targets for 41 yards in Friday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Wright was held out of the previous preseason game against the Commanders due to an undisclosed injury, but the rookie fourth-round pick's sizable workload Friday suggests he's back to full health. He's the latest speedster to join a Dolphins backfield led by Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane, but Wright could struggle to earn playing time early in his career while those other two running backs are healthy. Wright will get a chance to make his NFL regular-season debut Sept. 8 against the Jaguars.

Big rookie season ahead?
RBMiami Dolphins
August 30, 2024
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com identifies Wright as one under-the-radar rookie that could make a notable impact in his first season.
ANALYSIS
The speedy Tennessee product was deemed a very good fit for head coach Mike McDaniel's creative schemes from the moment he was drafted, and Wright did nothing to dispel that notion during a highly productive preseason. Brooks points out that while Wright could admittedly have a difficult time garnering meaningful snaps in a crowded Dolphins backfield, he feels the speedy back's high level of versatility and ability to score from anywhere on the field affords him a very bright outlook.
