2024 Fantasy Outlook
McLaughlin came in as an undrafted rookie last year and immediately proved to be a good bullpen running back, providing the Broncos with explosiveness as a runner (5.4 YPC) and reliability as a pass catcher (31 receptions on 36 targets). The problem is that the former Youngstown State standout is undersized (5-7, 187) and doesn't quite have the type of elite speed that might allow him to get away with it and take on large workloads anyway. He's more likely to tantalize with a few big plays on something like a 15-to-20-snap workload, unlikely to scale much higher than that. McLaughlin does at least have a chance to claim more of the passing-down work this year, following Samaje Perine's release in late August. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Eight touches against Baltimore
McLaughlin carried the ball five times for 10 yards and caught all three of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 41-10 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
McLaughlin played the No. 2 running back role Sunday, playing 23 of the Broncos' 72 offensive snaps while starter Javonte Williams played 39 snaps in the contest. Through nine weeks, the 24-year-old McLaughlin is averaging just under six rushing attempts and roughly 23 yards per game. The second-year running back has not seen enough consistent involvement in Denver's offense to make him an attractive option for fantasy purposes. In addition, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Monday that rookie Audric Estime could see his role increase as the season progresses. Assuming this comes to fruition, it would almost undoubtedly lead to even fewer opportunities for McLaughlin down the stretch. In what could become an even messier situation in the Denver backfield, the 24-year-old should not be trusted for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Chiefs.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
McLaughlin, an undrafted rookie from Youngstown State, impressed during training camp with both his play and his dedication to learning the offense. McLaughlin has a solid chance to move up the depth chart behind Javonte Williams and Samaje Perine. It's important to note McLaughlin was also used as a returner, running a kickoff back 44 yards in the contest. The Youngstown State product could therefore also carve out a role on special teams, helping him to secure a roster spot ahead of the 2023 campaign

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Coach praises work ethic
McLaughlin is looking to improve as a pass catcher in 2024, and he has impressed coach Sean Payton with his work ethic, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports. "He'll come up and wear me out asking for cut-ups and looking at certain routes," Payton said of McLaughlin. "He's here at 5:15 [in the morning], even in the offseason, first one here running in the weight room. By the time he's at breakfast and most people are arriving, he's put in a good hour and a half's worth of work."
ANALYSIS
McLaughlin had only 31 catches as a rookie, but he's looking to carve out a larger role in a Denver backfield that also includes Javonte Williams, Samaje Perine and rookie fifth-round pick Audric Estime, the latter of whom is recovering from a knee procedure. Williams and Estime profile more as early-down options, and if McLaughlin's hard work in the offseason pays off, the Broncos may feel comfortable parting ways with Perine and entrusting McLaughlin with the majority of passing-down snaps.
