2025 Fantasy Outlook
Smith was languishing on the deep end of the depth chart, but his fantasy outlook received a boost when two competitors suffered season-ending injuries during the second week of preseason games. Both Brevin Jordan (knee) and Dalton Keene (leg) are no longer obstacles for Smith, who should stake a claim to the No. 3 tight end behind Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover. In an offense that's expected to run multiple tight end sets, that could turn Smith into a fruitful fantasy producer. Read Past Outlooks
Leads receivers Saturday
Smith caught all five targets for a team-high 46 yards in Saturday's preseason win over Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Smith wasn't in the starting lineup, and none of his activity came during the first quarter, when Houston's offensive stars were primarily involved. Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover opened the game at tight end, before Smith showed off his hands. That he was featured heavily in the second and third quarters was a direct result of two significant injuries that cropped up during the week of preparation for Saturday's contest. Both Brevin Jordan (knee) and Dalton Keene (leg) sustained season-ending injuries, which benefitted Smith. A once promising tight end early in his career with the Vikings, Smith is poised to be third on the depth chart for a newly constructed offense that is expected to use multiple tight end sets.

A once-promising tight end early in his career with the Vikings, Smith never really developed and was allowed to walk following the expiration of his rookie deal. He made a one-year stop in Cincinnati last season, resulting in his worst output to date with just 18 grabs for 115 yards and a touchdown over 12 games. Smith sports $384,000 in guaranteed money for 2024, which seemingly works in his favor, but he'll still need to earn a 53-man roster spot with Noah Gray and rookie Jared Wiley also vying for spots on the depth chart behind Travis Kelce.

Getting look from Browns
Smith visited with the Browns on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Browns are in need of help at tight end with David Njoku expected to be sidelined with an ankle injury. Smith is among a few names the team is considering at the position, though his recent history in the league isn't promising. He was often inactive for the Bengals toward the end of the 2023 season and failed to secure a roster spot with Kansas City out of training camp.
