Week 4 is the final full week of games before bye weeks begin. Having every team in action will be helpful for DFS, given all of the injuries that have piled up already. The Week 4 NFL DFS Yahoo main slate begins Sunday at 1 p.m. EDT, so let's examine the matchups and highlight some of the top players to consider at each position.
Keep in mind, playing in guaranteed prize pool (GPP) Yahoo DFS football contests is about chasing upside, while lineups geared toward head-to-head, 50/50 or double-up formats should prioritize high floors. The players you want to target for these different contest types aren't mutually exclusive, but winning a GPP tournament usually requires finding a hidden gem or going against the grain in a spot or two, while building a solid base of the same chalk plays you would use anywhere. Against-the-grain plays typically consist of big-name players in tough matchups or boom-or-bust types with uncertain roles.
Remember that Yahoo DFS football contests use 0.5 PPR scoring rather than full PPR, which lowers the comparative value of wide receivers and running backs (in that order) while especially affecting high-volume pass-catchers. Lineups consist of one QB, two RBs, three WRs, one TE, one FLEX (RB/WR/TE) and one D/ST unit.
Quarterback
Geno Smith, LV vs. CHI ($36): Smith threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders in Week 3, and his average target depth of 9.1 yards has helped him complete 15 passes of at least 20 yards. He'll look to stay hot when he faces the Bears, who have seen multiple injuries to their secondary result in them allowing the sixth-most passing yards per game in the league.
Honorable Mentions: Josh Allen, BUF vs. NO ($45); Justin Herbert, LAC at NYG ($38); Drake Maye, NE vs. CAR ($34)
Against the Grainers: Daniel Jones, IND at LAR ($35); Bryce Young, CAR at NE ($30); Jaxson Dart, NYG vs. LAC ($20)
Running Back
Christian McCaffrey, SF vs. JAC ($39): The 49ers have leaned heavily on McCaffrey as they deal with multiple injuries on offense, as he's racked up 52 carries and 32 targets in three games. He hasn't let them go to waste, posting 389 total yards and one touchdown. George Kittle (hamstring) and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) remain out, which leaves McCaffrey with an incredibly high floor.
Omarion Hampton, LAC at NYG ($28): A lot has gone right for the Chargers this season, but one of the few negatives was losing Najee Harris to a torn Achilles in Week 3 against the Broncos. Hampton has stepped up, rushing 19 times for 70 yards and one touchdown and catching six of seven targets for 59 yards. A leading role against a Giants defense that has allowed the second-most rushing yards per game in the league could be a recipe for success.
Honorable Mentions: James Cook, BUF vs. WAS ($42); Chuba Hubbard, CAR at NE ($32); TreVeyon Henderson, NE vs. CAR ($21)
Against the Grainers: Alvin Kamara, NO at BUF ($28); Ashton Jeanty, LV vs. CHI ($24); Kareem Hunt, KC vs. BAL ($14)
Wide Receiver
Emeka Egbuka, TB vs. PHI ($32): Egbuka continued to shine last week, catching six of eight targets for 85 yards against the Jets. He has been given at least six targets in all three games, leaving him with a 22.9 percent target share. He has also accounted for 27.9 percent of the Buccaneers' air yards. Now that Mike Evans (hamstring) is out, the team should rely even more on their rookie receiver.
Keenan Allen, LAC at NYG ($26): A return to the Chargers has provided a significant boost for Allen's fantasy value. He only had a 23.0 percent target share with the Bears last year, but his target share is 26.2 percent this year. That has helped him produce a least five receptions, 61 receiving yards and one touchdown in all three games. When he last played for the Chargers in 2023, Allen had 108 receptions for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns over just 13 games. Two years later, he could threaten for 100 receptions again.
Tre Tucker, LV vs. CHI ($21): Tucker dominated the Commanders last week, catching eight of nine targets for 145 yards and three touchdowns. He also recorded a touchdown in Week 1, and he now has 17 targets over his last two games. Given how poorly the Bears have defended the pass, Tucker makes for a great stacking option with Smith.
Honorable Mentions: Puka Nacua, LAR vs. IND ($39); Tetairoa McMillan, CAR at NE ($28); Rome Odunze, CHI at LV ($28)
Against the Grainers: A.J. Brown, PHI a TB ($28); Brian Thomas Jr., JAC at SF ($28); Jerry Jeudy, CLE at DET ($24)
Tight End
Dalton Kincaid, BUF vs. NO ($15): With two touchdowns through three games, Kincaid has already matched his total from last season, and he's gotten five targets inside the red zone compared to 10 in 13 games last year. The Saints have allowed an average of 30.0 points per game, so Kincaid could find himself with more than one opportunity to reach the end zone.
Honorable Mentions: Brock Bowers, LV vs. CHI ($22); Juwan Johnson, NO at BUF ($17); Tyler Warren, IND at LAR ($17)
Against the Grainers: David Njoku, CLE at DET ($16); Hunter Henry, NE vs. CAR ($16); Cade Otton, TB vs. PHI ($11)
Defense
San Francisco 49ers vs. JAC ($12): The 49ers have allowed 16.3 points per game, which is the third-fewest in the NFL, and they have given up just 5.6 yards per pass attempt, which is also the third-fewest. After being held to just 17 points by a good Texans defense last week, the Jaguars could have a hard time scoring again in this matchup.
Honorable Mentions: Carolina Panthers at NE ($16); Los Angeles Chargers at NYG ($16); Houston Texans vs. TEN ($13)
Against the Grainers: Los Angeles Rams vs. IND ($16); Washington Commanders at ATL ($14); Baltimore Ravens at KC ($12)
