The Lions' losing streak extended to five games Friday as they lost the first game of the series 7-6. They'll turn to American Josh Roenicke as they attempt to right the ship and climb out of last place. Roenicke, who owns a career 4.17 ERA over parts of six seasons at the MLB level, served as the Lions' ace in 2018 and 2019. His start to the 2020 was delayed by the mandatory quarantine for foreigners returning to the country, with his only appearance to date being a three-inning relief outing on Sunday. The Guardians will turn to 22-year-old righty Chiang Kuo-Hao. His 7.71 ERA through three starts this season looks worryingly similar to his 7.40 ERA in 20.2 innings as a rookie, though he produced six shutout innings against the Lions his last time out, earning his first career win.

Josh Roenicke, Lions: Chiang Kuo-Hao did look good his last time out, and he does come at a remarkably cheap 6.5 credits, but Roenicke's track record in the CPBL is too strong to pass up the chance to roster him at just nine credits. He recorded a 3.17 ERA in his first season in the league in 2018 and backed that up with a 3.50 ERA last year, both excellent marks for the high offensive environment of the CPBL.
Lin An-Ko, Lions: Lin remains one of the top captain choices for the Lions. His three-hit game Friday means he now has 17 hits in his last 10 contests.
Su Chih-Chieh, Lions: Su makes for a strong alternative to Lin as a captain choice for those predicting a Lions victory. The cleanup hitter's .278 batting average and .542 slugging percentage are right in line with his .282 and .541 marks from last season.
Chiang Chih-Hsien, Guardians: Chiang makes for a strong captain choice for a Guardians-heavy lineup. His home run Friday gave him five on the season and two in his last three games.
