Uni-President Lions (7-10) at Chinatrust Brothers (7-9)
Tuesday, May 5, 6:35 AM EDT
Projected Starters
RHP Pan Wei-Lun (1-1, 13.11 ERA) vs RHP Liao Yi-Chung (0-1, 7.20 ERA)
Game Preview
The Brothers claimed the first game of the two-game series with an 8-5 victory Tuesday as the battle for second place in the CPBL continues to be quite a mess. The Lions will look to Pan Wei-Lun as they aim to end their three-game losing streak. The 38-year-old has endured an awful start to his 18th CPBL campaign, lasting just 11.2 innings across his three starts combined while allowing more than two baserunners per inning and giving up 17 earned runs. He did beat the Brothers for his first win of the season in his previous start, but it's hard to call that one a good performance, either, as he gave up five runs in five innings. Brothers starter Liao Yi-Chung hasn't been particularly imposing, either. After recording a solid 4.36 ERA in 13 starts as a rookie last season, he's allowed eight runs in 10 innings so far this season. This could be a high-scoring affair.

Top Picks
Liao Yi-Chung, Brothers: Both pitchers have been shaky this season, and Pan Wei-Lun would save you two credits, but it's hard to understate just how bad Pan has been this season. He's given up as many home runs (seven) as strikeouts. It's too hard to stomach putting him in your lineup, meaning Liao is the only option left at the position.
Chan Tzu-Hsien, Brothers: If the Brothers feast on the struggling Pan as expected, Chan should be well-positioned for another big game. He's hitting a career-best .371 with 12 runs and 11 RBI through 16 games this season.
Su Wei-Ta, Brothers: Su remains one of the most underpriced players in the league this season. He has multi-hit games in eight of his last 10 contests, scoring 11 times and driving in 11 runs over that stretch.
Lin An-Ko, Lions: Lin is again a great captain choice for those predicting a Lions win. The second-year outfielder has been blistering hot lately, hitting five home runs in his last seven games. He's homered in each of his last four games against the Brothers.
