After a successful slate of early games Tuesday, DraftKings is rolling out a $15k GPP for Wednesday's early slate, which features five games. Let's jump right in.
Targets
1. Grant Golden, F, Richmond ($7,100 DK)
Golden's usage rate is a team-high 29.9 percent -- the third-highest number among all starters on the slate. The 6-10 senior is part of the highest implied total of today's early slate, and Northern Iowa hasn't rebounded particularly well, checking in at No. 286 and 161 in offensive and defensive rebounding, respectively (albeit a small sample size). Nonetheless, it's Golden's day to eat as today's best pay-up option.
2. Keith Williams, G, Cincinnati ($7,100 DK)
Here's another usage-based play in the middle tier, as Williams has the highest rate (34.6 percent) on the entire slate, yet he's the third-highest priced Bearcat player. The undefeated Paladins give Williams & co. a pace boost, resulting in the third-highest implied total on the slate. After getting up 26 shots in the team's first two games, look for the volume to continue in a closer matchup. He also has five assists through two games, which is a new area of production for the senior wing.
2. Bowen Born, G, UNI ($4,700 DK)
Born is the usage leader on a UNI team facing off against a Richmond squad with arguably the fastest tempo on the slate. The Panthers also lost AJ Green recently to a hip injury, who was responsible for 56 shots attempted over the first three games. Trae Berhow replaced Green in the starting five after returning from COVID protocol, but he's priced accordingly at $6,500.
4. Olivier Prosper, G, Clemson ($3,000 DK)
This is admittedly a flyer in a game with a low total, but for $3,000, you're getting a G/F eligible player who started the last game for Clemson, putting up 11 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes. Chase Hunter returning might cut into his playing time, but Prosper may be worth a look if you can catch a peek at the starting five prior to the 5:00 p.m. EST tip.
Fades
1. Rhode Island Rams
If you're a new reader of this column, the Badgers come from the same vein as Virginia in terms of slow pace, checking in at No. 344 in KenPom's adjusted tempo metric (out of 357 teams). The Rams have the lowest implied total on the slate for good reason. Fatts Russell ($8,900) is a contrarian play at best, while injuries, foul trouble and an inconsistent rotation make it tough to decipher any value from this roster.
2. Eric Ayala, G, Maryland ($8,100 DK)
He's the fourth-highest priced player on the slate -- third if you count the injured AJ Green (hip). While he's been a stead, double-digit scorer, he hasn't hit 4x at today's price point in any of four games this season, and Maryland has the second-lowest implied total of the day.
