Raptors Control Game Late, Defeat Blazers
The Toronto Raptors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers, 117-105, at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday.

The Raptors (17-23) and the Trail Blazers (19-20) played a tight, intense contest that went down to the wire and was only decided in the final minutes. It was a back-and-forth contest, but the Raptors looked better in the early going, and the numbers backed that up as Toronto jumped out to a 34-27 lead in the first quarter. The Trail Blazers reduced the deficit to five points following a 26-24 score in the second quarter, but Toronto pulled away by double digits in the third quarter following a 31-21 score in the first 12 minutes of the second half. Portland tried to fight back, and they reduced the deficit to seven points with less than two minutes left on the clock, but the Raptors held on and managed to close the game out despite losing the fourth quarter by a 31-28 score. With the win, the Raptors improved to 12-10 at home, while the Trail Blazers fell to 10-14 on the road.

Pascal Siakam led the way for the Raptors with 27 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals, while Scottie Barnes delivered 22 points, nine rebounds, four dimes, three steals and two blocks. Gary Trent ended with 19 points and four boards, and Fred VanVleet notched 14 points with seven assists and six rebounds. OG Anunoby had 14 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Damian Lillard was the leading scorer for Portland since he ended with 34 points, eight assists, four rebounds and two steals, while Anfernee Simons had 22 points and two assists as well. Josh Hart finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists, and Jusuf Nurkic posted a 14-point, 18-rebound double-double that also included four assists. Jerami Grant also had 14 points.
