This article is part of our Player Rankings series.
With the 2019-20 season currently on hold, we thought we'd take the opportunity to peer into our crystal ball and look way ahead into the future at our top-150 players for next season.
Typically, this is an exercise we do in mid-summer after the draft and free agency, but what better time than now to begin preparing for a season that (hopefully) won't be interrupted by a major global pandemic?
A few notes before we get into the rankings:
- These are the average of Nick Whalen (NW) and Alex Barutha's (AB) individual top-150 rankings. Players who were unranked on one of the lists were assigned a default value of 160.
- We're assuming the 2019-20 fantasy season is over. As such, all references to rankings or stats take into account everything that happened up to the NBA suspension on Mar. 12.
- We're looking ahead, so "last season" refers to 2019-20
- Injured players are assumed to be healthy to begin next season, though potential regression is factored in for players like Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, DeMarcus Cousins, etc.
- Rankings are based on eight-category leagues (PTS, REB, AST, STL, BLK, FG%, FT%, 3PM)
Note: Column headers are sortable. The default rank on the left is tied to the average (AVG) rank of each player.

146 | 160 | 134 | 147 | James Johnson | MIA | F | Should be fantasy-relevant if he retains at least a sixth-man role in Minnesota. |
147 | 147 | 150 | 148.5 | Dillon Brooks | MEM | G/F | Solidified himself as an every-night starter for one of the best young teams in the league last season. |
148 | 150 | 147 | 148.5 | JaVale McGee | LAL | C | Production fell with Dwight Howard's resurgence. Could be the same story in 2020-21. |
149 | 160 | 137 | 148.5 | JJ Redick | NOR | G | Playing time slumped, but Redick still provided his usual, elite three-point shooting (45% 3PT). |
150 | 160 | 138 | 149 | Patrick Beverley | LAC | G | Can stuff the stat sheet as a point guard, though he isn't much of a scorer. |
