Whose Jersey Is The Most Popular?

Among individual athletes, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic – acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in February – was the most searched jersey four times, from logical states such as California to far-flung locales such as Hawaii and Arkansas.

That's tied for the most states for any athlete, alongside New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

This season, Maye has led the Pats to a 4-2 start, including a stunning Week 5 win at Buffalo. At BetMGM Sportsbook, New England has -250 odds to make the playoffs.

Sports fans in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, along with Maye's Massachusetts home, are eager to find a jersey bearing his name and No. 10.

One intriguing twist on our list is that injured NFL star Joe Burrow appears twice, but representing two different jerseys. Kentucky leans toward Burrow's Cincinnati Bengals threads as far as search interest, but in Louisiana – almost six years since he led LSU to the national championship – it's his Bayou Bengals jersey that's still hot, not the Cincinnati Bengals one.

One other individual stands out. The lone female athlete on our list is Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

The WNBA star lost out to Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton in her new home state, but in her native Iowa – where she had a legendary career with the Iowa Hawkeyes – her WNBA Indiana Fever jersey is the talk of the town statewide.

Team Jerseys That Are Trending

In Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont and New Hampshire, New England's beloved Boston Red Sox rule the roost as far as top team jersey for Google search interest. But not in the team's home, Massachusetts – there, Boston Celtics jerseys drew the most interest.

In 12 states, college football outstrips any professional team for jersey dedication, mostly in the southeast, where SEC interest is the king of all sports. Non-SEC outliers fitting this category include Ohio (the Ohio State Buckeyes), Idaho (the Boise State Broncos) and a few others.

The lone state where college basketball was No. 1 was Connecticut, where the UConn Huskies have dominant men's and women's hoops programs.

South Carolina has an interesting jersey dichotomy, splitting the biggest rivalry in the Palmetto State. Clemson football was the top team jersey drawing interest; however, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers was the top individual for search volume.
