2025 Fantasy Outlook
Although no one will confuse him for one of the truly elite running backs, Jacobs made a convincing case in 2024 that he was underrated going into the season. The Packers were vindicated in their decision to move on from the beloved Aaron Jones and bring in Jacobs as their starter, both because Jacobs' production was good in general and because his stocky, strong frame allowed the team to run power concepts that didn't work well with Jones. Despite failing to score in his first four games, Jacobs finished 2024 with a career-high 16 TDs, tied for fifth most among all players. As great as 2024 went for him, it was a less encouraging year for Green Bay's offense in general, with QB Jordan Love and WR Christian Watson (among others) hitting plateaus or setbacks. Jacobs became the centerpiece of an otherwise inconsistent offense, topping 20 touches eight times as the first true workhorse back of coach Matt LaFleur's tenure in Green Bay. LaFleur may try to give backups more of those touches this year, but it's not a strong enough group to give Jacobs serious trouble. Read Past Outlooks

Jacobs (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Packers also capped Jacobs' practice reps last week but didn't tag him with a designation prior to this past Sunday's game at Cleveland, so he may be destined for a similar fate by the end of Week 4 prep. In Week 3, he wasn't able to get much going on the ground (16-30-0), but he turned his nine targets into five catches for 44 yards. Friday's injury report will unveil whether Jacobs heads into the weekend with a designation ahead of Sunday's contest in Dallas.

It was never made especially easy for Jacobs during his five years in Oakland/Vegas, where he was subjected to poor blocking and/or poor quarterback play at most points but still ran for more than 800 yards each season. His arrival in Green Bay might look like a vacation in comparison, location aside. The Jordan Love-Matt LaFleur offense was one of the league's best by the end of 2023, and the Packers are returning four of five starters on their offensive line. It might be daunting to replace a beloved player like Aaron Jones, but Jacobs is younger, bigger and stronger, potentially opening the door for more success running between the tackles. A four-year, $48 million contract suggests Jacobs should stay busy for the Packers, even with AJ Dillon re-signed and MarShawn Lloyd drafted in the third round. Dillon's YPC average has dropped with each passing season -- all the way down to 3.4 last year -- while Lloyd is a talented runner but couldn't stop fumbling throughout his college career. As much as Jacobs would be hard-pressed to pursue another league rushing title like in 2022 when he ran for 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns, he's at least in good position to enjoy his second- or third-best season to date.

Dark-horse candidate for OPOY?
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com relays that Jacobs will be in contention for the Offensive Player of the Year award if opposing defenses focus on limiting Jordan Love and the Packers' passing game.
ANALYSIS
In his first year in Green Bay, Jacobs ranked fourth in the league with 15 rushing touchdowns and sixth with 1,329 rushing yards over 17 regular-season games. He'll lead the Packers' backfield once again in 2025, and Brooks believes that Jacobs could get more touches if opposing defenses focus on limiting explosive plays from Love and the wide receiver corps. Jacobs finished 16th in last season's OPOY race and did not receive a single first-place vote.
