The rankings below are based on FIFA's official World Cup fantasy game, including my own projections on who will advance from the group stage and through the knockout rounds. As a result, some players who look like they should be lower than others are not because they are expected to play more games; for example, Paulinho is ranked higher than Gylfi Sigurdsson because I expect Brazil to play more matches than Iceland, not because I think he's a better fantasy player.
