Routed in return from long layoff

February 22, 2025
Baghdasaryan lost to Jean Silva via TKO (strikes) at 4:15 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a significant shoulder injury, this was Baghdasaryan's first fight since July 2023. It was also a terrible matchup for him, as Silva is about the last featherweight on the roster you want to see standing across from you in a stand-up brawl these days. Melsik eventually got dropped by a huge combination from Silva. He was clearly done and Silva let up, but referee Kevin MacDonald told the latter to keep fighting so Baghdasaryan was forced to absorb a few huge elbows getting being put away from good. There's some talent here, but the 33-year-old has fought just five times (3-2) since making his July 2021 UFC debut.
