2025 Fantasy Outlook
After setting a career high with 96 points across 54 regular-season appearances with OHL London in 2023-24, Cowan wasn’t quite as big of a factor offensively last year, supplying 29 goals and 69 points in 46 regular-season outings with London. However, he stepped up in the postseason with 16 goals and 46 points in 22 games to help the Knights win the Memorial Cup as well as their second consecutive OHL championship. Now 20 years old, Cowan is going to get a long look during the Maple Leafs’ training camp, but it will be tough for him to crack the Opening Night roster. However, even if he fails to start with the Leafs, Cowan’s a great prospect and might be among the first forwards summoned from the AHL in the event of an injury. Read Past Outlooks

Heading to AHL
Cowan was loaned to AHL Toronto on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Cowan contributed two assists and eight shots on goal in five preseason outings, and he will begin his professional career in the minors. However, it wouldn't be surprising if he made his NHL debut at some point this campaign.

Impressing during camp
Cowan is staking his claim on an Opening Night roster spot, David Alter of The Hockey News reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Cowan put up fantastic numbers in juniors last year, tallying 29 goals and 40 assists in 46 regular-season games for OHL London. Even more impressive, the 20-year-old winger added another 39 points in 17 postseason games with the Knights. Given his numbers in the OHL, Cowan would seem to have aged out in terms of his development and would likely be better suited to playing in the NHL or AHL.
