Top NHL Picks Today: Best Bets, Odds & NHL Betting Insights

Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers

The Flyers (11-7-3) and Panthers (12-9-1) meet at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla., at 7 p.m., and all games on the slate are available on ESPN+.

This is the third meeting of the season, with the home team winning the first two installments. Florida won 2-1 on home ice on Oct. 9 as a heavy favorite (-210), while Philly covered on the puck line as the Under (5.5) cashed. Each of the past four meetings in Sunrise have been one-goal goals, and three of them have had an exact score of 2-1, including two Philadelphia victories.

Philly was blanked 3-0 at Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Look for Dan Vladar (8-4-1, 2.42 GAA, .912 save percentage) to be back in between the pipes after Samuel Ersson started against the Lightning. No surprise, but Sergei Bobrovsky (10-6-0, 2.80 GAA, .887 save percentage, 2 SO) is projected for the home side.

Based on the series trends, let's take the Flyers on the puck line as underdogs, and go low on the total.

  • Flyers +1.5 Goals (-165 at BetMGM)
  • Under 5.5 (+100 at Fanatics Sportsbook)

Winnipeg Jets at Washington Capitals

The Jets (12-9-0) and Capitals (12-9-2) drop the puck at 7 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena.

Winnipeg swept the regular-season series in 2024-25, but both games resulted in an overtime win, including 5-4 on Feb. 1 as the Over (5.5) cashed. However, the Under is 4-1 in the past five meetings between these teams since Dec. 23, 2022.

The Jets are without Connor Hellebuyck, the two-time Vezina Trophy champion, due to injury, so Eric Comrie is holding down the fort. He has lost his past two starts, and the Jets are just 3-6-0 in the past nine games, even when Hellebuyck was healthy. It's been much different this season than the President's Trophy run of a season ago.

The Capitals pounded the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 in D.C. on Tuesday, and they're 4-1-0 in the past five games, erupting for 23 goals in the past four outings. It's no surprise the Over is 3-1 in those games.

Let's back the Capitals to cover the puck line, and despite the series trends, we'll go Over, as the Caps are hot on offense, and Comrie is tepid in between the pipes.

  • Capitals -1.5 (+170 at Caesars Sportsbook)
  • Over 6 (-107 at BetRivers Sportsbook)

New York Rangers at Carolina Hurricanes

The Rangers (11-11-2) and Hurricanes (14-6-2) meet at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh at 7 p.m. ET.

New York fired out of the chute on the road, but it has cooled significantly away from home, losing three in a row. It did bounce back with a 3-2 win on home ice against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, a rare victory at MSG.

Carolina suffered a 4-1 loss in Buffalo behind Frederik Andersen on Monday, and it is just 3-2-2 in the past seven games, with the Over going 4-2 in the past six, and 7-3 across the previous 10 outings.

The Canes have dominated this series, winning five in a row since Nov. 27, 2024, while covering on the puck line as favorites in four in a row. The Under is 3-1 in the past four in the series, with the Rangers managing just five goals in that four-game span.

Based on series trends, we'll back the Canes on the puck line, while going low on the total due to New York's power outage lately, and in the series.

  • Hurricanes -1.5 (+145 at Fanatics Sportsbook)
  • Under 6.5 (-140 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Toronto Maple Leafs at Columbus Blue Jackets

The Maple Leafs (9-10-3) and Blue Jackets (11-9-3) meet again Wednesday at Nationwide Arena at 7 p.m. ET, and if this seems like a recording, it's probably because this is the third meeting of the season, and second since Nov. 20.

Columbus has won both meetings so far, including a 6-3 pounding of Toronto on Oct. 29 as slight favorites (-120), or favourites as they say north of the border. The Over (6.5) also cashed in that meeting, although the Under is 3-1 in the past four installments.

The Leafs have been horrific lately, going 1-5-2 in the past eight games, leaving 13 of 16 possible points on the board. The Under is 3-1, because in addition to poor defense and goaltending, the offense has struggled with just nine goals in the past four games, or 2.3 GPG. That includes a 3-2 OTL against the Jackets on home ice last Thursday.

The Jackets were trampled by the Caps 5-1 in D.C. Tuesday, but they're 4-2-3 in the past nine games. Yep, that's six overtime games or shootouts in the nine-game span just since Nov. 10, and 12 one-goal games in the past 16 outings.

Let's back the Blue Jackets on the moneyline, and we'll go low on the total here.

  • Blue Jackets ML (-120 at Fanatics Sportsbook)
  • Under 6.5 (-115 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
