SLATE PREVIEW
The Bruins at Sabres (6:30 p.m. EDT) will not be part of the main slate due to its slightly earlier start. Otherwise, it's four games at 7 p.m. highlighted by the second half of a showdown between the Hurricanes and Lightning, and then three more games with Red Wings at Stars (8:30 p.m.), Maple Leafs at Canucks (9 p.m.) and Ducks at Kings (10 p.m.).
GOALIES
James Reimer, CAR at TB ($8,600): This can be a dicey play because it's the Lightning, but keep in mind they're slated to start Curtis McElhinney, who has a .862 Sv% this season. Whoever starts for the Canes, be it Reimer or Alex Nedeljkovic, is probably going to outplay McElhinney, who has three wins in nine starts on one of the league's best teams. This could be a big revenge game, too, with Martin Necas taking a big hit from Alex Killorn on Monday night.
Jack Campbell, TOR at VAN ($8,200): The Canucks were mighty impressive in their return from a COVID break, but can they keep this up? Fatigue will certainly be a factor, and they will also be without one of their veteran defensemen in Alexander Edler after he was suspended for kneeing Zach Hyman. Campbell was just okay, but it seems unlikely that Braden Holtby will steal another game against a Leafs offense that could still be very potent without William Nylander.
Tristan Jarry, PIT vs. NJ ($8,100): Jarry made 28 saves for a win in his last start against the Devils, and over the past four games has allowed just seven goals. It's a good matchup and the Pens have looked very good with their new second line.
Tuukka Rask, BOS at BUF ($7,900): The Sabres have been pretty impressive exercising the "nobody believes in us" theory, but the Bruins' offense has been excellent since adding Taylor Hall to their second line. The goal support should be good enough even if Rask performs poorly.
Jake Oettinger, DAL vs. DET ($7,600): I really like this as a value play for Oettinger. The Wings made it interesting taking their Monday night game to a shootout, but they're still at a big disadvantage at virtually every position. Oettinger has been very good this month with just eight goals allowed in five games in April.
Spencer Knight, FLA vs. CBJ ($6,500): There's word that Knight might make his NHL debut Tuesday, having just signed three weeks ago. The highly-touted Boston College product is one of the league's top goalies, though it's a bit of a head scratcher because the Panthers are in the midst of a tight race for the division lead and they have a very good 1B in Chris Driedger. There's a chance the Jackets take this as the ultimate sign of disrespect, but there's not a lot of scoring talent on that roster and rank 28th in GF/GP.
VALUE PLAYS
Nick Robertson, TOR at VAN ($3,000): He played alongside John Tavares and if Nylander is a healthy scratch for disciplinary reasons, look for Robertson to play a bigger role on offense, perhaps some time on PP2 if Jason Spezza or Joe Thornton get bumped up to PP1.
Sam Bennett, FLA vs. CBJ ($3,200): Bennett's an intriguing option and he had been playing well even prior to his trade to Florida. He's playing with arguably the best player he's ever played with in Jonathan Huberdeau, and with a goal against Columbus last game extended his point streak to six games. It's a good value play considering the role Bennett plays even though he's been a disappointment for most of his pro career so far.
Nils Hoglander, VAN at TOR ($3,700): Hoglander has an engine that never stops and formed a very productive partnership with Bo Horvat on Sunday, scoring a goal and an assist. He tied with two other Canucks forwards with a game-high three shots on goal and also gets playing time on PP2.
Casey Mittelstadt, BUF vs. BOS ($3,800): His strong play continues with five points in his past six games, and the same could also be said about Dylan Cozens ($3,500), who has five assists in five games. It's been an impressive stretch for the Sabres' duo, who have taken ownership of the team in Jack Eichel's absence. The Bruins are a scoring machine and not the impenetrable defense they were known for in years' past, and over the past five games the Sabres have scored an impressive 18 goals.
Colin Blackwell, NYR at NYI ($4,000): Blackwell's a good play as long as Artemi Panarin plays on the opposite wing. Over the past five games he's registered five assists, which is half of his season total. Ride Blackwell while Panarin and the Rangers offense runs hot, even against a potentially tough Islanders defense.
LINE STACKS
Bruins at Sabres
David Krejci (C - $5,400), Taylor Hall (W - $6,400), Craig Smith (W - $5,200)
It's unlikely they'll outscore the Perfection Line, but this has been an excellent second line for the Bruins and the beginning of Hall's revenge tour. They have a balanced attack that could spell trouble for a very thin Sabres blue line. They combined for five points against the Capitals in their last game.
Devils at Penguins
Jack Hughes (C - $4,600), Yegor Sharangovich (W - $4,100), Janne Kuokkanen (W - $3,600)
The Pens obviously have the upper hand but it's hard to ignore what this line has provided for the Devils this season: speed, tenacity and a bit of skill. Hughes' improvement has been noticeable this season; all that's lacking is some puck luck and talent and experience on the wings. The Pens have had some trouble with the Devils this season, and if they allow a goal or two, this line's the best candidate. It's a very inexpensive line stack for a top line and they've combined for six points against the Pens this season.
Stars vs. Red Wings
Roope Hintz (C - $6,400), Jason Robertson (W - $4,900), Joe Pavelski (W - $7,400)
Pavelski feels a little expensive, but there's tons of value in Hintz and Robertson, who combined for two goals and an assist on Monday. The Stars' top line is worthy of stacking all week with four games against the Red Wings.
DEFENSEMEN
Kris Letang, PIT vs. NJ ($6,100): He's scored four assists in five games against the Devils and the Pens are rolling with four wins in their past six games, including two wins against the Devils where they've outscored them 11-6.
John Klingberg, DAL vs. DET ($5,400): Klingberg extended his point streak to five games with another helper against Detroit on Monday. He's quietly put together an impressive campaign considering the injuries the Stars have had to deal with this season. The assist also gives him five points in five games against the Wings.
Matt Grzelcyk, BOS at BUF ($4,200): If Grzelcyk returns, he should return his usual spot on the power play that's currently being held by Mike Reilly. Grzelcyk's battled injury all season but when he's been in the lineup, the Bruins have generated more chances on the power play.
Tyler Myers, VAN vs. TOR ($3,700): Myers played close to 30 minutes against the Leafs, and it's a good bet that he's going to log heavy minutes again with Edler out of the lineup. He stuffed the score sheet with an assist on Bo Horvat's overtime winner and finished with three shots and five blocked shots.
