FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

With Islanders at Bruins postponed, that leaves five games on Tuesday's slate, three of which will feature Central Division matchups. It'll be the fourth time last season's Stanley Cup finalists will face off, though the Lightning have gone 3-0 against the Stars, including two shutout wins.

GOALIES

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TB at DAL ($8,700): Vasilevskiy is going for his 12th straight win, and seeing how he's a perfect 3-0 against them this season with two shutouts, he seems like a pretty good bet. The Stars are missing too many key pieces and just don't have the same amount of talent or depth.

Sergei Bobrovsky, FLA at CHI ($7,900): Either Bob or Chris Driedger should be good choices, though Driedger has been playing better lately. The season series is 4-0 in favor of the Panthers, who have allowed 11 goals but have also provided a ton of goal support. This is the first time the Blackhawks will play host, but they're a pedestrian 7-4-2 at home and have lost four straight. Look for the win, but not a good save percentage.

Carter Hart, PHI vs. NJ ($7,200): This is a risk, given how Hart's performed this season, but the good news is the Devils aren't very good at scoring. The Devils have scored four goals or more just five times this season. Hart faced 34 shots and allowed just one goal against them on Jan. 28.

Jonas Johansson, COL at ARI ($6,500): Johansson's salary may change once FanDuel realizes he's on the Avs, but otherwise this seems like a very good value play. Johansson's NHL numbers haven't been very good so far (.888 Sv%, 3.40 GAA), but keep in mind he was playing behind an awful Sabres defense. The Avs defense has been very good at limiting shots, having allowed 30 shots or more just five (!) times this season.

VALUE PLAYS

Yegor Sharangovich, NJ at PHI ($3,800): Relative to the minutes he gets – which is about 18 per game in March – Sharangovich is a good value play even if he scores infrequently. He's not afraid to shoot, which is a good thing, and with Hart's struggles this season, some might even get through. Sharangovich was held without a point in two prior games against Philly this season, but his role has expanded a lot since then.

Joonas Donskoi, COL at ARI ($3,700): Donskoi doesn't usually provide a lot of offense, but with another two goals on Monday, he extended his point streak to five games. There are long stretches where he doesn't register any points or shots, but the Avs have dominated the Coyotes and don't need to lean on their top line as much for offense. Valeri Nichushkin ($3,700) is also a good option.

Travis Zajac, NJ at PHI ($3,700): Since March 9, Zajac has averaged over 18 minutes per game with a goal and seven assists. The Devils aren't very deep down the middle and his veteran presence is being heavily leaned on. The Flyers have been inconsistent all season and top center Sean Couturier is probably not 100 percent healthy after being a game-time decision Monday.

Calle Jarnkrok, NSH vs. DET ($3,500): I've been loathe to suggest any Preds forwards this season, but the offense has to come from somewhere. Jarnkrok is soaking up the minutes with injuries to their top-six, playing at least 16 minutes in each of his past three games, which included two goals and eight shots.

LINE STACKS

Panthers at Blackhawks

Aleksander Barkov (C - $7,700), Anthony Duclair (W - $4,100), Carter Verhaeghe (W - $5,200)

Duclair's spot on this line is shaky because he's been getting moved down the lineup quite a bit recently, but as long as Barkov and Verhaeghe are together, it should be make for a productive stack against a team that struggles to prevent goals.

Lightning at Stars

Brayden Point (C - $7,600), Ondrej Palat (W - $6,100), Yanni Gourde (W - $4,600)

They've combined for seven points this season, with Gourde being the weak link with just one goal and a minus-1 rating despite generating eight shots. Point has been particularly effective against them this season with two goals on 11 shots.

Avalanche at Coyotes

Nathan MacKinnon (C - $8,800), Gabriel Landeskog (W - $6,600), Mikko Rantanen (W – $8,400)

This will be a popular line stack despite its high salary. They combined for just one goal on Monday but managed to put seven shots on goal. They might have an easier time scoring facing expected starter Adin Hill.

DEFENSEMEN

Cale Makar, COL at ARI ($6,300): Victor Hedman's numbers against the Stars this season (two assists, three shots in three games) has been rather pedestrian, so I like Makar's upside better. On a night short on elite defensemen, Makar and Hedman are a cut above the rest.

Aaron Ekblad, FLA at CHI ($5,700): Ekblad hasn't scored a point in three games but he's played at least 27 minutes in each game, and he'll also face a woeful Blackhawks PK that ranks 28th.

Mattias Ekholm, NSH vs. DET ($4,100): Ekholm is a solid option with Roman Josi injured, and he's scored four points in his past four games. Offense usually isn't a big part of Ekholm's game, but he's been asked to step up with injuries to key players. He's been held without a shot just twice since Feb. 1.

Filip Hronek, DET at NSH ($3,800): Nashville's PK is awful, ranked 30th at 71 percent. Hronek's 18 points aren't dazzling, but it's impressive considering who he's playing with.
