SLATE PREVIEW
Only the Capitals at Bruins (12 p.m. EDT) will be cut out from the main slate, otherwise all six games will be available for the all-day contest. It'll be followed by a slightly earlier start as the Rangers look to complete a sweep against the Devils (3 p.m.) while the Penguins will try to do the same in the second half of a back-to-back to the Sabres (3 p.m.).
The Golden Knights and the Ducks will play at 4, but keep in mind it's a matinee in local time and those afternoon weekend games can be more unpredictable than usual. It's followed by the Islanders at Flyers (6:30 p.m.) and then all eyes should be on Maple Leafs at Canucks (7 p.m.) as the Vancouver return to play following a team-wide COVID outbreak that forced multiple postponements and will leave them without certain key players, including starting goalie Thatcher Demko and defenseman Nate Schmidt.
GOALIES
Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK at ANH ($8,500): It's Fleury's turn now after Robin Lehner only needed to make 16 saves in a 4-0 shutout win against the Ducks. Sometimes they're a plucky team, but for the most part have been outclassed all season. The Knights' only loss against the Ducks this season was a 1-0 win where they came out flat and mustered just 21 shots against John Gibson.
Jack Campbell, TOR at VAN ($8,400): Do the Canucks even have a chance? They're likely to miss at least a few regulars because they're either still recovering or in COVID protocol, and they also haven't played in a while. Campbell has faltered recently, but he's getting two days' rest and a little more after getting pulled in his last start while the Leafs remain the best team in the North.
Igor Shesterkin, NYR at NJ ($8,300): The Rangers may give Shesterkin a break after winning three straight against the Devils, but either him or Alexandar Georgiev should be solid picks. It's rare to see a complete sweep thanks to the amount of parity in the league, but the Rangers' offense is providing plenty of goal support thanks to Artemi Panarin.
Casey DeSmith, PIT at BUF ($8,100): It was a close call, but the Penguins pulled out a win Saturday against the Sabres after outshooting them 41-30. Buffalo's defense continues to be porous especially after trading away players at the deadline, and look for Michael Houser to make his first NHL start with both Linus Ullmark and Carter Hutton unavailable.
VALUE PLAYS
Casey Mittelstadt, BUF vs. PIT ($3,800): As long as Mittelstadt keeps rolling, we roll with him. He scored a goal for the second straight game - his sixth in eight - and finally looks every bit like a first-round talent after a bumpy start to his career. Linemate Tage Thompson ($3,400) has also played well lately tallying four goals in six.
Yegor Sharangovich, NJ vs. NYR ($4,200): Sharangovich posted a goal and assist Saturday against the Rangers. And while it's easy to pin his success on playing with Jack Hughes, keep in mind Sharangovich has stayed on the top line and top power play for good reason. The chemistry between the two young players is pretty good and Georgiev's numbers against the Devils this season - 3.97 GAA, .860 Sv% - have been subpar.
Jared McCann, PIT at BUF ($4,400): McCann registered five shots against the Sabres, the fifth time he's managed to get at least five this season and the second time it's happened against the Sabres. He doesn't always get a lot of ice time, but he's a high-volume shooter when skating decent minutes.
LINE STACKS
Rangers at Devils
Ryan Strome (C - $6,300), Artemi Panarin (W - $8,400), Colin Blackwell ($4,400)
Panarin's a one-man show and he's dragging his linemates along with him. Blackwell and Strome are no slouches, but they're big beneficiaries of Panarin's strong play. The Devils have lost nine of their past 10 while allowing at least three goals in nine of them.
Penguins at Sabres
Sidney Crosby (C - $8,000), Jake Guentzel (W - $7,500), Bryan Rust (W - $5,900)
This trio didn't stuff the scoresheet as expected, but they'll get another chance with the Sabres expected to start a rookie in net. They did connect on a power-play goal, but hopefully a more favorable matchup will lead to a more productive result.
Maple Leafs at Canucks
Auston Matthews (C - $8,600), Mitch Marner (W - $7,600), Alex Galchenyuk (W - $4,000)
Bum wrist or not, Matthews' return will make the Leafs a much better squad, especially on offense. The Canucks will likely be starting Braden Holtby, who has struggled for most of the season and they may be without Schmidt and one of their best checking wingers in Tyler Motte.
DEFENSEMEN
Adam Fox, NYR at NJ ($6,100): The fear with Fox, Shea Theodore ($6,300) and Kris Letang ($6,300) is that the games get out of hand quickly and their coaches decide to give them extra rest - especially for Letang and Fox who are playing back-to-back. All three present considerable upside, but Fox enters with a slight discount.
Morgan Rielly, TOR at VAN ($5,400): This is a matchup play against a Canucks team that's more likely than not to be out of sorts after a lengthy absence. The Leafs' power play has struggled recently so Rielly doesn't add much value there, but he does play a lot of minutes and has collected three assists in his past four contests.
Jacob Trouba, NYR at NJ ($4,300): Trouba's an alternative to Fox if you go with Theodore or Letang. Trouba doesn't offer the same offensive upside, but plays a lot of minutes and is usually dependable in the shots and blocked shots categories with the added bonus of playing on PP2.
Mike Reilly, BOS vs. WSH ($4,200): Reilly's been a nice surprise for the Bruins and notched an assist and three shots on goal in his second straight game. Matt Grzelcyk is out, which means Reilly will continue to quarterback the power play which now also features Taylor Hall.
