2025 Fantasy Outlook
Not much has gone right for Wilson since he entered the league as the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. After three failed seasons with the Jets, in which he compiled a combined 23:25 TD:INT ratio, Wilson was traded to Denver and finally got his hands on a chance to develop on the bench in 2024. The Dolphins saw enough growth from Wilson during his time with the Broncos to prioritize pursuing him in free agency, positioning him as the presumptive backup to Tua Tagovailoa. Wilson boasts undeniable arm talent, so if he's managed to clean up his accuracy and decision-making issues, he'll offer Miami some upside behind Tua. Read Past Outlooks

Remains backup after Tua benching
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday that Wilson will remain the No. 2 quarterback behind new starter Quinn Ewers during Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, while Tua Tagovailoa will act as the emergency No. 3 quarterback, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson signed a one-year, $6 million contract with Miami this offseason and has acted as the team's backup quarterback for almost all of the 2025 campaign, but it's Ewers, a rookie seventh-round pick, who has looked more impressive at practice and now gets the starting nod with Tagovailoa benched. That said, Ewers likely won't have much margin for error if he struggles to move the offense early, so it's not inconceivable that Wilson gets a chance to show what he can do under center across the course of the Dolphins' final three regular-season games.

Wilson, the second pick in the 2021 draft, flamed out in New York and was traded to Denver in April. He will compete with veteran backup Jarrett Stidham to start -- if first-round pick Bo Nix isn’t ready for the job Week 1. Wilson became the starter last season after Aaron Rodgers was injured in the opener, but the season was as miserable as his first two. He finally lost the starting job Week 12, only two get it back by default two weeks later. A Week 15 concussion then ended the Jets' Wilson era. In three years as a Jet, he totaled 23 TD passes and 25 INTs. Wilson has a strong arm, but until he shakes his inaccuracy and poor decisions, he'll likely be the same QB in Denver that he was in New York.

Bypassed for Week 16 assignment
Wilson will remain the No. 2 quarterback for Sunday's Week 16 game against the Bengals, having been bypassed for the starting assignment by rookie Quinn Ewers, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As rumblings of a possible benching of Tua Tagovailoa began Tuesday, Wilson, given his No. 2 role for all but one game this season, was thought to arguably have the better chance of drawing the Week 16 start if a change was made. However, head coach Mike McDaniel announced Wednesday that rookie seventh-round pick Quinn Ewers will get the starting nod against Cincinnati, although Wilson, and not Tagovailoa, will notably slot in as the primary backup.
