2024 Fantasy Outlook
Ertz has topped 700 receiving yards seven times in his impressive career, most recently doing so in 2021. His best days are behind him at age 33, but the question is, does Ertz have any gas left in the tank at all? He had just 187 receiving yards in seven games for the Cardinals in 2023 before missing the rest of the regular season due to a quadriceps injury, though he joined the Lions during the postseason, at least indicating that the injury has healed. The Commanders signed Ertz in hopes of squeezing one more productive year out of the veteran, and rookie second-round pick Ben Sinnott will be Ertz’s chief competition for playing time. If he has enough juice left to beat out Sinnott, Ertz could carve out a prominent role as a security blanket for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Read Past Outlooks
Status in question for Week 16
Ertz (concussion/shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Eagles, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Ertz was diagnosed with a concussion during the Commanders' Week 15 win at New Orleans, but after missing Wednesday's practice, he was limited Thursday while wearing a black, non-contact jersey and maintained that activity level one day later. He still must gain clearance from an independent neurologist in order to suit up this weekend, and ultimately his status will be clarified about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, at the latest. John Bates and Ben Sinnott are on hand to cover for Ertz if the latter is inactive.

Ertz revitalized his career with a move to Arizona, where he's caught 103 of 150 targets for 980 yards and seven TDs in 21 games since the 2021 trade deadline. His 2022 was cut short in November by a torn ACL and MCL, which might mean more missed time early in 2023 given that he's 32 years old and will be less than 10 months removed from major surgery come Week 1. Any absence would give 2022 second-round pick Trey McBride a chance to carve out a larger role, but if Ertz can return to pre-injury form -- which is far from a given at his age -- he could play an even prominent role in Arizona’s passing attack this season after DeAndre Hopkins was released in May. Prior to last year's knee tear, Ertz was on pace to top 70 receptions for a seventh time in the past eight seasons, albeit with four straight years at 6.8 yards per target or worse (after starting his career with 7.5 YPT or better six consecutive seasons).

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be busier moving forward
Ertz, who ranks second on the Commanders with 75 targets, could see even more work over the final four games of the regular season with Noah Brown expected to be placed on injured reserve, per John Keim of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Ertz has enjoyed a resurgent season in Washington, posting a 52-501-4 receiving line that includes his best catch and yardage totals since 2021. Brown, meanwhile, ranks second among Washington receivers with 56 targets on the season, and his absence could open up more looks in the passing game for No. 1 wideout Terry McLaurin and Ertz, as well as depth receivers such as Luke McCaffrey, Dyami Brown, Olamide Zaccheaus and waiver pickup K.J. Osborn.
