Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Taylor's expected to work as the backup to offseason acquisition Justin Fields in 2025. The journeyman Taylor has 94 NFL appearances (58 starts) under his belt, including a couple of cameos in mop-up duty in 2024, which was his first season with the Jets. Fields has never started more than 15 games in a season, so Taylor could get the call at some point to lead a Jets passing game that lacks established talent other than WR Garrett Wilson, but Taylor's rushing upside at age 36 is far lower than it was in his prime Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Available as backup for Week 16
Taylor (groin/knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
While managing his pair of injuries, Taylor wasn't available for last week's loss to the Jaguars, paving the way for undrafted rookie Brady Cook to make his first career start. Cook is set to direct the offense once again in Week 16, but Taylor will be available to serve as the No. 2 option after he followed a pair of limited practices Wednesday and Thursday with a full session Friday. If Taylor is able to turn in a full slate of practices next week, he could return to the starting lineup for the Jets' penultimate game of the season against the Patriots, though Cook may retain the top job with a solid showing versus New Orleans.

Taylor is on his seventh NFL team this year, but he doesn’t have to move far. After backing up Daniel Jones for the Giants the last two seasons, he will back up Aaron Rodgers for the Jets this season. Jones started three midseason games last year before being sidelined by a rib injury. He didn’t start again until the last two games, when the team’s Tommy DeVito fling had run its course. Taylor didn’t do much, throwing five TD passes and three interceptions with a 7.5 YPA, but he’s a poised veteran who gives the Jets a steadier hand than they got last year from their backups. Zach Wilson, who started 11 games last season, was traded, leaving Taylor as the clear No. 2. Taylor’s ceiling is modest, but he has some rushing upside -- last year he averaged 32 rush yards in his five starts.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Slated for reserve role Sunday
Taylor, who missed the Week 15 loss to the Jaguars with a groin injury, will serve as no better than the No. 2 quarterback in Sunday's Week 16 matchup against the Saints, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed Wednesday rookie Brady Cook will make his second career start against New Orleans, and he added the healthier of Taylor and Justin Fields will serve as the No. 2 quarterback. Both Taylor and Fields were estimated as limited participants in Wednesday's walkthrough session, and all things being equal, Taylor could have the upper hand for the primary backup role considering Fields was benched for him after Week 11.
