Mullen (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve by the Ravens on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Mullen dislocated his shoulder against the Packers in the team's preseason finale and he'll now be forced to sit out the entire 2024 season while on IR. If he reaches an injury settlement with Baltimore, he'll be free to sign elsewhere. Otherwise, he'll shift his focus to being ready to go for training camp in 2025.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2020
Mullen saw the field in parts of just five games throughout the 2021 season due to a nagging toe injury, and a minor surgery to address an undisclosed issue earlier this offseason landed the 24-year-old on the PUP list to begin training camp. However, the Raiders hope to have him ready by Week 1 as he figures to compete for a starting role at cornerback with Rock Ya-Sin, Nate Hobbs and Anthony Averett also in the mix.
Mullen started all 16 games for Las Vegas in 2020 during just his second NFL season, tallying 64 tackles (56 solo), 14 passes defensed and two interceptions. Expect Mullen to retain his role as a starter on the outside at cornerback, but the Raiders' secondary will look different with Casey Hayward now providing a veteran presence on the opposite side while 2020 first-rounder Damon Arnette battles for reps.
The Raiders' midseason decision to trade cornerback Gareon Conley to Houston last year opened the door for 2019 second-round pick Mullen to start the team's final 10 games, ultimately notching 46 tackles (39 solo), 10 passes defensed and one interception from Weeks 8-17 as a rookie. The 22-year-old heads into his sophomore campaign in the NFL as the team's top cornerback option on the outside, despite the arrivals of 2020 first-round pick Damon Arnette and veteran Prince Amukamara.

Inside track on starting spot
CBLas Vegas Raiders
July 22, 2022
Levi Damien of USA Today Raiders Wire believes Mullen has the inside track on a starting outside cornerback spot despite opening camp on the PUP list.
ANALYSIS
The nature of Mullen's injury wasn't specified, though he's likely still recovering from offseason foot surgery. As long as Mullen's absence isn't too lengthy, Damien believes Mullen will manage to hold off at least two of Rock Ya-Sin, Anthony Averett and Darius Phillips to secure a starting spot come Week 1.
