2024 Fantasy Outlook
The good news for Bateman is that he stayed healthy for most of the 2023 season, after missing 16 games over his first two years in the league. The bad news is that averaged 2.0 catches and 22.9 yards per game, mostly working as Baltimore's third or fourth wide receiver. The Ravens apparently expect more of the 2021 first-round pick in 2024, with coach John Harbaugh referring to Bateman as a starter in February and the team then signing him to a two-year extension in April. He may be more explosive this year after last offseason was devoted to rehab from Lisfranc surgery, but target volume remains a significant issue with the Ravens sure to prioritize WR Zay Flowers and TE Mark Andrews as the top passing-game targets in an offense that always ranks near the top of the league in pass attempts. While Bateman may well take a step forward, he's unlikely to see enough volume to make noise in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Held in check by Steelers
Bateman caught two passes for 30 yards on five targets in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore's passing game had trouble getting in rhythm Sunday as Lamar Jackson had his least efficient game of the season. Bateman still drew a reasonable number of targets, but his numbers suffered nonetheless. However, Bateman is having a career year with personal bests in yards and touchdowns with six games to go. Next up for Bateman and the Ravens is the Week 12 Monday Night Football showdown with the Chargers.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
2021
Bateman has shown flashes since going 27th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he missed the first five games of his rookie year on the heels of summer abdominal surgery and then missed the final 11 weeks of 2022 with a Lisfranc injury. He started well last year before the foot became a factor, catching eight of 16 targets for 226 yards and two TDs the first three weeks, buoyed by a pair of distance scores. He's only 23, but there's suddenly a lot more target competition after the Ravens signed Odell Beckham and drafted Zay Flowers in the first round. The switch from Greg Roman to Todd Monken at offensive coordinator promises a more pass-oriented offense, at least, giving Bateman some potential for a third-year breakout if he finally stays healthy. He averaged nearly 100 yards per game his final two seasons at Minnesota and ran a 4.39 40 at the 2021 combine, so the Ravens still seem to believe in his potential -- at least to a degree -- even after a pair of disappointing seasons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Sliding down to WR3
Bateman could drop down to third on the Ravens' wide receiver Sunday against the Broncos, as Diontae Johnson isn't listed on the team's Week 9 injury report.
ANALYSIS
Johnson sat out in Week 8 due to a rib injury with the Panthers, but he's healthy to begin his Ravens tenure after being acquired via trade Tuesday. While Johnson may take some time to learn the playbook, it shouldn't take him long to supplant Bateman as a starter alongside Zay Flowers at wide receiver.
