Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Drafted by the Patriots in 2022, Strong barely saw the field in his first two seasons. A trade to the Browns at the end of camp last year gave him a fresh start, and the South Dakota State product spotted in and out of the Cleveland offense the rest of the way after Nick Chubb was lost for the season in Week 1. Strong is capable of breaking off chunk plays with his open-field elusiveness, but Chubb will be back in 2024, backed up by Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman. There's no clear path to a regular role for Strong. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Elevates to No. 2
Strong will serve as the backup running back Sunday against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
With Nick Chubb (foot) on season-ending injured reserve, Jerome Ford becomes the lead runner, with Strong and D'Onta Foreman getting evaluation opportunities over the final three weeks, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Strong is under contract for next season while Foreman is not. When both Chubb and Ford were healthy over the last six games, Strong had just four carries for 13 yards and two catches (two targets) for nine yards.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
A 2022 fourth-round pick, Strong didn't get many opportunities last year in New England, finishing the season with 10 carries for 100 yards. But one of those rushes showed his trademark speed as he ripped off a 44-yard burst Week 14 against the Cardinals. Strong (5-11, 207) is a bit skinny for his height, which means his excellent athletic testing (4.37 40, 36-inch vertical, 124-inch broad jump) comes with the slight asterisk. The Patriots traded him to Cleveland in August a couple weeks after signing Ezekiel Elliott, giving Strong a new opportunity to carve out a role in a backfield with minimal experience behind the starter. It looks like only fellow 2022 draft pick Jerome Ford, a fifth-rounder, stands between Strong and the second spot on Cleveland's depth chart.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might be battling for roster spot
Strong may be competing with free-agent signing D'Onta Foreman in training camp for a roster spot, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The Browns backfield is crowded, with Jerome Ford, Nick Chubb and Nyheim Hines all locked into spots if they are healthy. There's no guarantee either of the latter two will be, however, as they are both recovering from knee surgeries. In the event all three are ready by Week 1, Strong and Foreman will be battling for the final roster spot. Strong is younger and offers special-teams value, which could give him an edge in that fight, but Cleveland presumably signed Foreman for a reason.
