It may not have registered on the seismic scale when the Packers acquired Willis from the Titans late last August, but the move proved to be a stroke of genius, as he was forced to fill in for an injured Jordan Love shortly thereafter and led Green Bay to two early-season wins. Willis more than held his own in a couple other extended appearances, and when it was all said and done he completed a sterling 74.1 percent of his passes, racked up four scores and turned the ball over only once. Willis again will fill the backup role behind Love in 2025, and while Green Bay will certainly hope to lean on him less, the team shouldn't be too concerned if it has to. Read Past Outlooks

Head coach Matt LaFleur said that Willis (shoulder) will be a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

After Jordan Love (concussion) was forced out in the middle of the second quarter of this past Saturday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Bears, Willis stepped in under center and moved the ball effectively. He completed nine of 11 passes for 121 yards and one touchdown while adding 44 yards on 10 carries, but the dual-threat signal-caller appears to still be banged up after landing hard on his throwing shoulder late in the fourth quarter. Love appears to be making some progress through the NFL's concussion protocol and will join Willis as a limited participant at Tuesday's practice, but LaFleur noted that the presence of both quarterbacks on the field to begin Week 17 prep doesn't necessarily make him more confident that either or both will be available for this Saturday's game against the Ravens, per Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com. LaFleur added that how Willis and Love progress as the week unfolds will determine the availability of both signal-callers for the weekend.

Willis' potential to be a starting quarterback in the NFL has seemingly come and gone. In addition to drafting Will Levis in 2023, the Titans also added Mason Rudolph as a free agent this offseason. That puts Willis in the position to be inactive as the third quarterback in most games in 2024. In order to stick in the league beyond his rookie contract, he'll need to improve a number of areas in his game, most importantly his accuracy from the pocket.
