2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
David signed a one-year contract to rejoin the Buccaneers for the third straight offseason. While that is indicative of the fact that he's on the back end of his career -- he's entering his age-35 season -- his surface-level production suggests otherwise as he topped 120 tackles for the third consecutive campaign. Unfortunately, the analysis isn't that simple. Per PFF, David missed tackles at a 15.5 percent clip in 2024, the highest of his career and more than double any number he's posted since 2021. His work in coverage, previously a strength, also slipped, as he allowed 9.4 yards per target and a 106.4 passer rating against. That would be a cause for concern, but the Buccaneers have done little to build in a backup plan for David this offseason. Another season of 100-plus tackles is probably in the cards, but David appears to finally be slowing down. Read Past Outlooks
Back at practice Tuesday
David (leg) returned to practice Tuesday and made several noteworthy plays during the day's session, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
David had missed all of last week's on-field work, but he hit the ground running in his return Tuesday. The veteran linebacker delivered multiple big hits during the practice session, including knocking the ball loose from receiver Ryan Miller on a would-be catch. Given his apparent return to full health, David should be available for the Buccaneers' first preseason game Saturday night against the Titans, although he could well sit out the contest anyhow for precautionary reasons.

David returned to the Bucs on a one-year, $9 million deal this offseason following one of his best campaigns yet in 2023. The 34-year-old's 134 tackles were his best showing in that category since 2015, while his 4.5 sacks marked his most prolific contribution since 2016. Tampa Bay's decision to bring back the multi-time Pro Bowler despite his advanced age isn't much of a surprise - David's presence figures to be more important than ever in 2024, now that both Shaquil Barrett and Devin White have moved on and the inexperienced YaYa Diaby and K.J. Britt are set to replace them.
